Looking at IT Career Courses

January 31, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Scott Edwards

We all have busy lives, and most often if we want to learn a new profession, getting educated alongside a job is what we’re faced with. Microsoft certified training could be the answer. In addition, you may want to get advice on the careers that are available once you’ve qualified, and what sort of person those jobs might be right for. Many people prefer to discuss what would suit them individually. Training programs must be designed to meet your needs. Consequently, having worked out the right IT job for you, your next focus is the most applicable training course to get you there.

Obviously, the computing market promises impressive prospects. Yet, to investigate it properly, what are the questions we should raise, and which are the sectors we need to investigate?

A ridiculously large number of organisations only look at the plaque to hang on your wall, and forget the reasons for getting there - getting yourself a new job or career. Always start with the final destination in mind - too many people focus on the journey. Imagine training for just one year and then end up doing the actual job for 10-20 years. Avoid the mistake of finding what seems like an ‘interesting’ training program only to spend 20 years doing something you don’t even enjoy! You also need to know your leanings around earning potential, career development, and how ambitious you are. It’s vital to know what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, which particular certifications are required and in what way you can develop commercial experience. Before setting out on a learning programme, you’d be well advised to discuss specific career needs with an experienced industry professional, in order to be sure the retraining program covers all that is required.

It only makes sense to consider study programs which grow into commercially acknowledged exams. There are loads of minor schools promoting unknown ‘in-house’ certificates that are essentially useless in the real world. Unless your qualification is issued by a conglomerate such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe, then you’ll probably find it will be commercially useless - as no-one will have heard of it.

Proper support should never be taken lightly - locate a good company providing 24×7 full access, as not obtaining this level of support will severely hamper your progress. Never purchase study programmes that only provide support to trainees with a call-centre messaging system outside of normal office hours. Trainers will give you every excuse in the book why you don’t need this. Essentially - support is needed when it’s needed - not at times when they find it cheaper to provide it. The best training colleges opt for an online access round-the-clock facility combining multiple support operations from around the world. You will be provided with a single, easy-to-use interface which switches seamlessly to the best choice of centres no matter what time of day it is: Support when you need it. If you opt for less than direct-access 24×7 support, you’ll quickly find yourself regretting it. It may be that you don’t use it late at night, but what about weekends, early mornings or late evenings?

If you’re like many of the students we talk to then you’re a practical sort of person - the ‘hands-on’ personality type. Typically, the world of book-reading and classrooms would be considered as a last resort, but you’d hate it. So look for on-screen interactive learning packages if book-based learning really isn’t your style. Many studies have proved that much more of what we learn in remembered when we involve as many senses as possible and take action to use what we’ve learned. The latest audio-visual interactive programs with demonstrations and practice sessions will turn you off book-based study for ever more. And you’ll find them fun and interesting. You must see examples of the study materials provided by the company you’re considering. It’s essential they incorporate instructor-led video demonstrations with virtual practice-lab’s. Purely on-line training should be avoided. Always choose CD or DVD based study materials where obtainable, enabling them to be used at your convenience - you don’t want to be reliant on your broadband being ‘up’ 100 percent of the time.

Exam ‘guarantees’ are sometimes offered as part of a training package - inevitably that means paying for the exams when you pay for the rest of your course. However, prior to embracing the chance of a guarantee, be aware of the facts: These days, we are a tad more knowledgeable about sales gimmicks - and the majority of us ought to realise that of course we’re actually paying for it (it’s not a freebie because they like us so much!) Passing first time is everyone’s goal. Taking your exams progressively when it’s appropriate and funding them as you go sees you much better placed to get through first time - you prepare appropriately and are mindful of the investment you’ve made. Do the examinations as locally as possible and don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you when you’re ready. Considerable numbers of questionable training providers make huge amounts of money through getting in the money for examinations upfront and hoping you won’t see them all through. Many training companies will require you to sit pre-tests and hold you back from re-takes until you’ve demonstrated an excellent ability to pass - so an ‘Exam Guarantee’ comes with many clauses in reality. Splashing out often many hundreds of pounds extra on ‘Exam Guarantees’ is remiss - when a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools is what will really guarantee success.

What is the reason why qualifications from colleges and universities are now falling behind more commercial qualifications? With the costs of academic degree’s becoming a tall order for many, plus the industry’s recognition that corporate based study is closer to the mark commercially, we have seen a large rise in CISCO, Adobe, Microsoft and CompTIA authorised training courses that supply key solutions to a student at a far reduced cost both money and time wise. In essence, students are simply taught the necessary specifics in depth. It’s not quite as straightforward as that, but the most important function is always to focus on the exact skills required (including a degree of required background) - without overdoing the detail in all sorts of other things (as universities often do). Imagine if you were an employer - and you wanted someone who could provide a specific set of skills. What is easier: Wade your way through a mass of different academic qualifications from hopeful applicants, having to ask what each has covered and what trade skills they’ve mastered, or choose a specific set of accreditations that perfectly fit your needs, and make your short-list from that. The interview is then more about the person and how they’ll fit in - rather than on the depth of their technical knowledge.

It would be wonderful to believe that our jobs are secure and our future is protected, but the growing likelihood for the majority of jobs throughout the United Kingdom right now seems to be that security may be a thing of the past. We could however locate market-level security, by looking for areas that have high demand, coupled with a lack of qualified workers. Reviewing the computer industry, a recent e-Skills study highlighted a 26 percent deficit in trained staff. Therefore, out of each 4 positions existing across IT, organisations can only source trained staff for three of them. Highly qualified and commercially accredited new workers are consequently at a complete premium, and it looks like they will be for a long time. In reality, acquiring professional IT skills as you progress through the coming years is likely the finest career direction you could choose.

Training For a Career in IT

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Scott Edwards

It’s quite some achievement that you’re on the right track! Only one in ten folks say they enjoy their work, but vast numbers just bitch about it and do nothing. By looking for this we can guess that you’ve a personal interest in re-training, so you’ve already stood out from the crowd. What comes next is find out more and then take action. On the subject of training, it’s crucial that you have in mind what you DO want and DON’T want from the position you’re hoping to qualify for. Be sure that you would be more satisfied before you put a lot of energy into taking a new turn. It’s good sense to regard the destination you’re hoping for to avoid disappointment: Do you hope for interaction with others? If you say yes, are you a team player or is meeting new people important to you? Or are you better working in isolation? Banking and building are a little shaky at the moment, so think carefully about the sector that would give you the most options? When you’ve done all your re-training, would you like this skill to serve you till you retire? Do you feel uncomfortable about the chance of getting another job, and staying employable to the end of your working life? We would strongly recommend that your number one choice is Information Technology - everyone knows that it’s getting bigger. IT isn’t all techie geeks lost in their computer screens constantly - naturally those jobs exist, but most jobs are carried out by ordinary men and women who do very well out of it.

The world of information technology is amongst the most exciting and ground-breaking industries that you could be a part of. To be working on the cutting-edge of technology means you’re a part of the huge progress that will impact the whole world for generations to come. Computing technology and interaction via the web is going to radically change the way we live our lives in the near future; remarkably so. If earning a good living is high on your scale of wants, you’ll welcome the news that the usual remuneration of most men and women in IT is considerably greater than salaries in the rest of the economy. The hunger for certified IT specialists is guaranteed for many years to come, due to the constant increase in IT dependency in commerce and the vast deficiency that we still have.

It’s irrefutable, the UK computing market offers outstanding opportunities. Yet, to arm ourselves with the correct information, what are the questions we should be raising, and which are the areas we need to look at?

A ridiculously large number of organisations are all about the certification, and avoid focusing on why you’re doing this - which is a commercial career or job. You should always begin with the end in mind - don’t get hung-up on the training vehicle. Don’t let yourself become one of those unfortunate students that choose a course which looks like it could be fun - and end up with a certification for a job they hate. Get to grips with how much you want to earn and the level of your ambition. Usually, this will point the way to what precise accreditations will be expected and what you can expect to give industry in return. As a precursor to beginning a training programme, it’s good advice to chat over the specific career requirements with an experienced professional, so as to be sure the training course covers all the bases.

Trainees looking at this market are usually quite practically-minded, and don’t always take well to classrooms, and slogging through piles of books. If you’re thinking this sounds like you, use multimedia, interactive learning, where you can learn everything on-screen. Years of research and study has consistently confirmed that becoming involved with our studies, to utilise all our senses, is proven to produce longer-lasting and deeper memory retention. You can now study via interactive discs. Through instructor-led video classes you’ll absorb the modules, one by one, via the demonstrations and explanations. You can then test yourself by utilising the practice lab’s and modules. It makes sense to see some of the typical study materials provided before you sign the purchase order. Always insist on instructor-led video demonstrations and interactive audio-visual sections with practice modules. Avoid training that is purely online. Ideally, you should opt for CD and DVD ROM courseware where available, enabling them to be used at your convenience - and not be totally reliant on your internet connection always being ‘up’ and available.

A lot of training companies only give support available from 9-6 (office hours) and sometimes later on specific days; It’s rare to find someone who offers late evening or full weekend cover. Locate training schools with proper support available at any time you choose (no matter if it’s in the middle of the night on a weekend!) You’ll need 24×7 direct access to mentors and instructors and not a call-centre that will take messages so you’re constantly waiting for a call-back during office hours. Top training providers provide an online access round-the-clock facility involving many support centres throughout multiple time-zones. You get a single, easy-to-use environment that seamlessly accesses whichever office is appropriate at any time of day or night: Support on demand. Look for an educator that goes the extra mile. Only true round-the-clock 24×7 support truly delivers for technical programs.

We’re often asked why qualifications from colleges and universities are being replaced by more commercial certifications? Industry now recognises that for an understanding of the relevant skills, official accreditation from companies such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe most often has much more specialised relevance - saving time and money. Academic courses, for instance, often get bogged down in vast amounts of background study - with a syllabus that’s far too wide. This prevents a student from getting enough core and in-depth understanding on a specific area. The crux of the matter is this: Recognised IT certifications give employers exactly what they’re looking for - it says what you do in the title: as an example - I am a Microsoft Certified Professional in Planning and Maintaining Windows 2003 Infrastructure. Therefore companies can look at the particular needs they have and which qualifications are required to fulfil that.

It’s not uncommon for companies to offer inclusive exam guarantees - this always means exams have to be paid for upfront, at the very beginning of your studies. However, prior to embracing this so-called guarantee, consider this: Clearly it isn’t free - you’re still paying for it - the cost has just been rolled into the whole training package. It’s everybody’s ambition to qualify on the first attempt. Progressively working through your exams when it’s appropriate and paying as you go sees you much better placed to get through first time - you put the effort in and are conscious of what you’ve spent. Sit the exam somewhere close to home and hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you take it. A lot of so-called credible training course providers secure huge amounts of money by getting paid for exams at the start of the course then banking on the fact that many won’t be taken. It’s worth noting that exam re-takes through training course providers with an ‘Exam Guarantee’ are tightly controlled. They’ll insist that you take mock exams first until you’ve demonstrated an excellent ability to pass. Paying maybe a thousand pounds extra on an ‘Exam Guarantee’ is remiss - when consistent and systematic learning, coupled with quality exam simulation software is what will get you through.

The somewhat scary thought of finding your first role in IT is often relieved by some training providers because they offer a Job Placement Assistance programme. But don’t place too much emphasis on it - it’s quite easy for their marketing department to make too much of it. In reality, the need for well trained IT people in the United Kingdom is the reason you’ll find a job. You would ideally have help and assistance with preparing a CV and getting interviews though; also we would encourage everyone to bring their CV up to date as soon as they start a course - don’t procrastinate and leave it until you’ve qualified. Many junior support jobs have been offered to students who’re still on their course and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. At the very least this will get you on your way. Normally you’ll get quicker results from a local IT focused recruitment consultant or service than you will through a training company’s centralised service, as they will be more familiar with the area and local employers. Do be sure that you don’t put hundreds of hours of effort into your studies, then call a halt and leave it up to everyone else to find you a job. Stand up for yourself and start looking for yourself. Channel as much energy into getting a good job as you did to get trained.

Why And When To Buy A Tuxedo

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Victor Santerino

The world of tuxedos is full of rented and borrowed garments that have been around for far too long. Renting is acceptable for some tuxedo wearers, but not for all.

I wrote this article to help give people the knowledge they need to determine whether they should buy or rent. After reading this article you will be prepared prepared to make a definite decision.

The first thought you should broach is, how frequently do I make use of rental tuxedos. After asking yourself this question, you may find that you wear a tuxedo more than once every other year. This means you really need to buy a tuxedo.

Tuxedos are not as expensive as many people think. The fact is, if you are wearing a tuxedo more than once in a two year period you will make your money back on your purchase relatively quick.

Tuxedo accessories will mostly never even need to be purchased. The reason for this is that many people already have them in the form of suit accessories. Black dress shoes, belts, and dress shirts can all be found in one’s closet.

Renting is a hassle that you do not want to participate in if you don’t have to. The entire process of going to the shop, looking at tuxedos, inspecting for damage, picking up the tuxedo before the event, and finally bringing it back to the shop is extremely time consuming.

The pride of possession is a stupendous feeling that can only be achieved through a purchase. This feeling will lead you to look and feel more confident in your owned tuxedo than your rented tuxedo.

I hope this article has been some use to you. Please bookmark this page and recommend it to your friends and family members.

Are you Achieveing Your 2009 Medical Billing Goals?

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Carl Mays II

We are fast approaching the end of January and the point in the New Year when the majority of people’s New Year’s resolutions have already failed. This is, however, the time for renewed efforts to focus one’s resources on achieving the desired goal. There are two keys to reaching your goals:

1. View your failures (i.e., I have not flossed in two days) as minor set backs and not as utter failure (i.e., I might as well start saving for dentures); and

2. Focus on a sequence of short term goals that make your larger goal seem more manageable (i.e., instead of “I will weigh 120 pounds by December 31st” set a series of goals such as “I will weigh 152 pounds by the end of February. I will weigh 148 pounds by the end of March.” etc).

So, this is interesting, but how does it apply to medical billing? Well, if you keep these ideas in mind you can use them to achieve lofty improvements in medical billing performance. How? Start with a powerful and straight forward goal: Make sure your claims are clean before you submit them. This will help your medical billing in several ways:

- It focuses you on the most critical aspect of billing. If the claims go out the door clean you will find that all of the rest of the challenges start to become much more manageable;

- It allows you to focus on achievable, smaller goals (85% of claims go out clean in January, 87% go out clean in February, etc);

- Individual failures (rejected claims), provide fertile learning opportunities for improving your medical billing process. As long as you look at rejected claims with an eye towards how you can stop the rejections in the future and not just with a mind set of how do I fix this individual claim.

- It lends itself to technology aids. Invest in a scrubber that will help you find coding problems before you submit the claims. Invest in insurance verification tools that will make it easier to have clean demographics. Invest in coding tools that will help improve your data entry performance.

Use the end of January as the time for a more informed New Year’s resolution for your medical practice. Today is the time for you to:

- Determine where you stand today (what percentage of your claims get paid on the first submission);

- Write down a powerful and meaningful performance improvement goal (my practice will have over 95% of its claims accepted on the initial transmission);

- Turn your goal into a sequence of achievable goals (my clean claims rate will be 88% by the end of March, etc); and

- Create a plan for how you will learn from rejected claims.

With this approach you can make 2009 your best medical billing year ever.

Stricter Punishment for Animal Cruelty

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Rashel Dan

Animal cruelty is a reality today. The sad thing about it is that not everyone is aware of it. Dog fighting, a common practice in some places is, for example is considered to be a felony in most countries. However, the punishment for such does not reflect that of a felony crime. As a result, there will always be people who will continue to neglect and abuse animals.

A lot of environmental activists and concerned people believe that the law should push stronger implementation of anti-animal cruelty laws. Stronger laws mean tougher punishments, and animal cruelty offenders need to be punished using the strongest punishment allowed by law.

Why People Abuse Animals

Criminals and people who abuse other people are likely to have experiences and background with animal abuse and cruelty. There are a lot of serial rapists and murderers who started out by abusing and torturing animals. When they think that they can get away with animals without any form of punishment, then they look for more challenging subjects: humans.

Statistics - Based on a 1997 study by the MSPCA and Northeastern University, 70 percent of the people who committed violent crimes against animals also had records for other crimes. When put side by side with a control group of their neighbors, the animal abusers were found five times more likely to commit violent crimes against people. Also, they are four times more likely to perpetrate property crimes, and three times more likely to have a record for disorderly conduct or drug offenses.

Why push for harsher punishment? Most people believe that punishing animal cruelty offenders would prevent and implementing the strictest law on them would discourage more animal cruelty. Since animals can’t speak for themselves, more and more people are now taking it to themselves to advance their cause in the animals’ behalf.

Animal Cruelty Law in America

California law is commendable. It recognizes animal cruelty as a felony offense with a provision for mandatory counseling and prison time. Also, about 33 states and the District of Columbia now have laws that make certain types of animal cruelty a felony offense.

The states of Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada and Maine increased punishments for this crime. Illinois increased its penalties for cruelty, dog fighting and neglect. Illinois law mandated psychological counseling for youth offenders and animal hoarders. Texas and Arkansas have dealt with the need for psychological counseling. Maine has passed a bill that has special provisions for torturing or killing an animal with the intent of intimidating or frightening a child, or forcing a child to kill an animal. Louisiana necessitates their government employees to report any incidence of animal abuse or neglect they discover while investigating child abuse of neglect.

All these are good steps against the animal abuse. However, there are still some states that need to impose strong punishment for animal cruelty. Remember, animal cruelty is a crime. Offenders have to be punished. Our animals’ safety could depend on our involvement. It could even be our own lives at the line.

College Summer Programs Prepare Teens for Stressful Environments

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Lauren Tyson

Summer is traditionally a time for rest, relaxation, and recreation for many, but for high school seniors, it’s a frantic time of preparation. There are new social experiences and increased amounts of homework to consider, possible careers and personal independence to look forward to, and focus on future goals and aspirations.

The journey from high school graduate to college freshman is usually a short one; it typically lasts for the span of a summer. How is a college freshman more prepared than a high school graduate? The truth of the matter is that they are not more prepared. Without any guidance during the transition from high school to college, many students are steering blindly into unfamiliar waters.

Studying is a prime example of this. Many students accustomed to smaller, informal classroom settings can become overwhelmed with large, impersonal lecture-style classrooms. Suddenly, asking questions in front of an audience of hundreds can be intimidating, and requesting that a professor slow down for note-taking purposes is unlikely. Often students go through trial by fire, making critical errors that can have a lasting effect on their grade point averages.

The benefits of a college summer program can give a student the advantage they need to successfully transition into a college environment. They address realistic problems and occurrences in everyday college life: more challenging classes, more homework and reading, studying techniques, indecision regarding academic career tracts, financial pressures and responsibilities, brand new social situations, and the overarching issue of time management. Though academics should remain a student’s primary focus, in reality, college is about new life experiences and gaining insight into their potential futures, so it is necessary for college students to be aware of all of the possible pitfalls that they may encounter.

SuperCamp offers a college success program called Quantum U that addresses all of these issues and more with a unique framework called the 8 Keys of Excellence. The overall message is simple: Success in all aspects of life depends on you. The 8 Keys consist of the following principles: Integrity, Failure Leads To Success, Speak With Good Purpose, This Is It!, Commitment, Ownership, Flexibility, and Balance. Personal responsibility will be their watchword under the inspiration of the 8 Keys.

Another concept Quantum U stands by is Everything Speaks. No matter what a student is doing, the environment they surround themselves in has an inverse affect on their mood, attitude, and the results of what they are trying to accomplish. Consider studying on an organized, orderly desk versus studying on a chaotic mass of papers and books. The results could be wildly different!

Independent studies show that of over 6,000 graduates, 73% reported improved grades, 68% increased motivation, 83% increased confidence, and 98% continued to used the high school and college skills they learned at SuperCamp and Quantum U, which is proof that college preparation can give students a needed edge on their college experience. College success ultimately depends on the student, but they can ease the process by acquiring the skills they need to advance.

College preparation can give students invaluable learning and life skills to help them succeed in college, professional, and personal lives. Megan Adams, a SuperCamp graduate of the Quantum U program had this to say about her experiences: “[Quantum U] was the most life changing experience of my life thus far and I have recommended it to all my friends and all my mom’s friends for their kids. I don’t really know that you can completely put into word the amazingness of it… the whole program should be a requirement at some point in all kids’ lives.” Every student should have the same opportunity to get a head start on college success.

Compare Student Loan Consolidation Rates in Looking for a Lender

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Torrie Cantor

If you want to select the best lender, compare student loan consolidation rates. A lot of students who have just graduated find it advantageous to consolidate student loans at once. The next crucial step would have to be choosing the right lender from which to apply a student loan consolidation from. Nowadays, there are many lenders that offer you different loan consolidation programs, each with various requirements, interest rates, and etc.

Take into consideration some of the points discussed in this article if you want to choose the right lender . Although it is very important for you to compare student loan consolidation rates, you should also take into account some details in choosing a loan consolidation program and a lender.

Comparing School Loan Consolidation Rates

If you consolidate your student loans, you could cut your student loan payments by up to 50% or more. This could mean big savings and thousands of dollars on the life of your loan. You could also be able to lock down a low and fixed interest rate for your monthly payments.

Look into the rates. When choosing a lender, you should ask them about the rates that they can give you. Usually, the interest rate on a consolidation loan is calculated by getting the weighted average of the interest rates (as of the date the application is received by the lender) on all the loans you are consolidating, rounded up to the nearest one-eight of a percent.

Other Things to Consider

You should also consider other things. It will also be wise if you ask your lender to figure out your monthly payments and how long it would take for you to fully pay the total loan balance. Also, you should try asking about incentives, like additional breaks on interest if you make your payments through automatic debits each month or if you consistently make on-time payments for a specific period of time.

Requirements

Each lender has its own set of requirements. There are some lenders that will require you to have a co-signor, some optional, and some do not require this at all. In lending companies that posts this as optional, having a co-signor with a good credit background will let you enjoy some benefits like lower interest rates.

There are some lenders who will ask for collateral, while there are others who don’t. Some lenders also set a minimum balance policy, and the amount varies from one lender to another.

Application

Look for a lender that has an easy application process. Now, there are some lenders that provide online application that can be accomplished in just a matter of minutes. The process is quick and all information released is kept confidential. After 15 minutes of submission, you will be immediately called by a customer service representative on the contact number that you provided.

Service

Service is very important. If you’re comfortable and satisfied with your current lender’s service, then you can just check with them to see if they offer loan consolidation. Either that, or you can check your school’s financial aid offices for a list of preferred lenders who have provided tried-and-true working experience to former students.

Those are some things to look out for. So if you are choosing a lender, compare student loan consolidation rates and other details.

So You Want To Be A Lucid Dreamer…

January 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment

by Lesley Groft

You have heard about lucid dreaming and think it is something you would like to do. That is a good starting point but exactly how do you begin and what are the steps to being a successful lucid dreamer?

You also need to think about exactly why you want to become a lucid dreamer. What are the benefits of dreaming lucidly? To help us find the benefits, let us first look at ‘normal’ sleep.

Normal sleep helps us refresh ourselves for the next day. However, if you were a lucid dreamer, you would be able to control the period of time when you were dreaming.

Normal sleep just seems to serve the purpose of simply refreshing ourselves in order to live out the next day. But what if you could control that period of time that you have dreams?

What if rather than being an active observer, you can be the one who can lead your dream to be whatever you want, rather than your dream leading you? This is what a lucid dreamer is; someone who is in total control of their dreams; able to explore new worlds that are not bound to the physical, societal and time-space laws of the real world.

So if you want to become a lucid dreamer how do you do it? There are actually two ways. The first way is having a dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD), which is where the dreamer is in a dream and then realizes that they are, restoring their sense of consciousness within the dream.

Another popular method is to have a wake initiated lucid dream (WILD); this is a straight shot from awake to asleep with no lapse in your consciousness. This is usually achieved by purposefully retaining awareness during the hypnagoogic state, which directly precedes sleep.

How exactly do you induce either one of these lucid dream states?

Dream Recall

A simple place to start when you would like to lucid dream is in dream recall. This is where you can remember and perhaps recite your dream in part or in whole. You are very likely to have the same dream more than once in your life and being able to remember them will alert you the next time you have that particular dream.

To make dream recall easier you can keep a dream journal. This is a notebook or pad of paper that has the sole purpose of recording your dreams. Whenever you have a dream, you should write all you can remember in the journal as soon as you wake up. The longer you are awake the more details of the dream that will be lost.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

Developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge the idea is to tell your self to recall an object or situation from your dreams, before you go to sleep. You can look back to your dream journal for an example of a recurring them like a pink haired woman. Anything that when you see it in your dream will tell you that you are in fact dreaming.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.

According to LaBerge, this technique has about a sixty percent success rate. That’s because you wake up in the middle of your sleep cycle, with your mind not fully aware, and are still in the middle of your REM cycle. This results in something a lot like telling your mind you want to dream lucidly and having it obey!

Cycle Adjustment Technique

This technique was created by Daniel Love, and involves setting an alarm that will wake you an hour and a half before you’d normally get up. Once you’re used to waking up early, alternate between the early alarm and your old alarm. When you’re waking up normally, your body will already be expecting the early alarm, and make you more likely to “wake up” in your dream.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

When you consider all the methods and techniques wake initiated is by far the most intriguing way to enter lucid dreams. What you have to do is manage to keep the brain aware while the rest of you falls asleep. You can enter your dreams much like entering a theater. You go into watch the movie, set down and the light go down, (sleep) dark envelopes you just before the movements on the screen appear.

To get into this correct frame of mind if you will there are a few tricks you can use. Focus seems to be key so try to focus your mind on things like your breathing, counting, perhaps chant or meditate. In a way, you are practicing self-hypnosis. Use this technique when you are not extremely tired, perhaps during a late nap.

Technology has moved on in recent years, and there are various devices like dreaming masks and other scientific appliances which contain such things as strobe lights to induce lucid dreams.

Definitely the easiest and most reliable way of inducing a lucid dream however is by listening to binaural beats sound frequencies via headphones.

These work by synchronizing your brain’s two hemispheres. They almost instantly allow your brain waves to reach the frequency that occurs in REM sleep and which is needed for you to be a lucid dreamer.

Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!

Cotton and linen suits are the enemy when it comes to looking for suits that will not wrinkle easy. The greatest example of this can be seen in your hamper in the form of cotton t-shirts.

Heavy wools are fantastic crinkle deterrents. Buy a thick wool suit to wear in colder months and you will keep warm and wrinkle free.

Regarding wool, make sure you choose a wool that is spun at a low level. Wools spun at high quality speeds like super 150’s and above are soft and luxurious, but are also more likely to wrinkle.

Wool combined with polyester will give you a solid quality suit with a crinkle free flair. Purchase this fabric for your everyday suit and you will not have to steam clean nearly as often.

Brands to consider when looking for a wrinkle resistant suit are Haggar and Hart Schaffner & Marx. These designers have the magic stretch and traveler models which are designed to fight wrinkles.
