Autograph Biography of Mark Turgeon
I was eight years old, when I first received my first autograph ever by Dave Winfield of the New York Yankees.
Collecting sports cards was one thing but to actually get them signed was another. I have always played sports my whole life and as a kid, I loved watching all kinds of sports: Red Sox, Mets, Yankees, Bruins, Rangers, and Celtics etc. But I would have to say; I enjoy the sport of Hockey the most from playing it and cheering on my favorite team the Hartford Whalers. My Autograph days officially started in Hartford, CT. I was a huge Whaler fan and would attend most home games and get autographs from the Whalers and the visiting teams.
I did this between the ages of 10 -17. In those seven years, I would feel a rush every time I got another autograph from a Hockey Superstar. My collection of hockey autographs consists of cards, photos, pucks, jerseys, sticks, and programs.
The Hartford Whalers organization moved to North Carolina and my era of obtaining NHL autographs kind of ended, but my love for autographs did not die. I began to start collecting music autographs from the various artists and bands that toured in Hartford, CT and through out the state. I have also traveled frequently to New York City and Boston, MA meeting bands such as The Rolling Stones, Doors, ZZ Top, Dave Matthews Band, U2 and more.
I love all music from Rock, Pop, Blues, Rap, Folk, Jazz, International, and Country. I believed in the various artists from these genres and always had an interest of obtaining autographs from them.
I still get that same rush I used to get as a kid, only now I sell some of the items I obtain as a supplemental income. To learn more about me and to view my authentic Rock n? Roll signature exemplars, please visit www.sharkstreasures.com.
Presently I reside in Los Angeles, CA and still continue to work with the best in the autograph industry as well as able to collect in all aspects. After many years of collecting and studying autographs I am able to determine if an autograph is genuine or fake. It’s a shame of how may fake autographs are in the market, and it will continue to get worst, because some people are just greedy and have no respect for the industry.
I recently went back to school and finished my degree in Geography as well as GIS at Cal State University, Northridge. Nobody really knows what to expect in the future, but I can say autographs will always be a part of my life. My goals are to keep the autograph industry pure, by offering authentic pieces to the market and guide people of my knowledge from collecting as well as buying signed items. All the Best Mark Turgeon
