Encourage Your Children To Take Piano Lessons Or Guitar Lessons
March 11, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Even when people are born without much ability to play a musical instrument, they usually still like music of some sort. However, everyone should still have taken some guitar or piano lessons at some point in their life.
There are countless ways to express this love of music. Two popular ways are playing in a band and dancing. Some simply write the music that others play. And then, of course, there are those who not only write the music, play it, or dance, they also write the lyrics.
Whatever ability children have or do not have, they need to play an instrument. And your encouragement will go a long way to influencing them to do it. One common example are piano lessons.
But they will need the benefits that having an instructor brings. This will give them direction and guidance. And this will improve anything they ever get out of their music. And it might help them express their feelings.
Growing up is not easy and it is often less easy to talk about how difficult it is. An outlet is needed, but is not there for many. Playing music is that outlet and lessons are the guidance they need to express it.
It is not easy for children to express themselves sometimes, especially as adolescents. Playing sports is a popular outlet for many, but playing a musical instruments is another choice for those who have other creative tendencies.
Playing on you own is not a bad way to learn. But playing a musical instrument without the consistent presence of a mentor is a waste. There is no direction and chances are that continuing as an adult will cease.
But honing that musical ability, regardless of its level, is essential for being a well-educated person. And learning these arts in school also improves your overall education.
Additionally, children become developed as adults in a more balanced, more natural way. They can access their emotions and reactions better. They have access to more outlets to express these and they can choose more wisely which outlets to use when.
They also learn to be diligent, to give a good effort, and to practice getting better at what they like. They will learn that working hard is good and worth the effort. They will appreciate the value of hard work, regardless of the mental talent.
The true benefits might come later in life, though. They will often be in the company of people who cannot play any music and they will be respected for their abilities.
This will be of service when they want to write a song for a girl. Or play the favorite song of their boyfriend at his birthday party. Or do anything to entertain people.
Not many people who can do these things regret being able to do them. Those who regret are those who did not continue taking their guitar or piano lessons. So allow your kids to express their inner musical selves. Everyone will benefit in ways you cannot imagine. Your children will love it and you for encouraging them.

What Is Movement Training For Actors?
March 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment
If you intend on making a career for yourself on the stage or on film, you need to know what is good movement training for actors. The nuances in movement are just as–if not more–useful than how you look and how you deliver lines. It is one of the hardest things for people to master. Sure, you can mimic how a person from a certain background might talk. But can you move as they would move? This is the difference between decent actors and great actors.
One of the best places to start is in a dance class. Ballet, specifically, teaches you how to control your body and muscles. Ballet’s greatness and difficulty comes from the fact that you must learn how your lines feel. Great dancers should know purely by feel when their leg is at a thirty degree angle or when their hips are not turned out enough, or if their arm is not perfectly rounded.
All measures of dance are fantastic, even if you are an actor who only wants to play ‘tough guy’ roles. Not only does it teach you how to properly control and contort your body, but you should also use any opportunity to learn new skills. You never know what part could be your big break. It could be the part of a mafia don who has a specific way of moving and knows how to swing dance. Never underestimate how specific and strange different roles can be.
Stage combat is a vastly useful class to take. Safety, especially if you are intending on being a stage actor, is one of the biggest components in your career. Many a career has been cut short or jobs lost to understudies because of an injury. In addition, combat will train you to mime very well and fake pain or anger. It is difficult to realistically portray someone in pain when you yourself feel nothing. It can often be very over-acted and look silly.
These are important trade secrets to learn. It will also give you an opportunity to think of your own stage combat moves that could be very complicated and exciting for an audience. The facial training you will gain from this is invaluable. By teaching yourself to look pained or upset–and by teaching yourself to hide actors’ tricks from the audience–is what separates mediocre actors from good ones.
The Alexander Technique is a study of movement specially designed for actors. It is often a required course for any acting or drama degree. It also involves safety measures, but it is more in terms of preserving your knees on unforgiving stages and keeping good posture for back safety. This is a crucial course when it comes to learning your body and how to best control it.
By treating your body as building blocks that must all be stacked correctly, you can manipulate the ’stacking’ to get across certain characteristics or emotions. This also helps teach you how to fill your diaphragm with air so you can be louder on stage. The Alexander Technique is sometimes used to help medical patients relieve stress on some of their body.

Great Eighties Hollywood Hits
March 5, 2010 | Leave a Comment
A lot of people make derisory comments about the 1980’s and knock the fashions, hairstyles etc But you can’t deny it was a decade that produced some great movies.
So many of these great movies haven’t been seen by those who are around the age of 23 or younger. This is a crying shame as these films deserve to be enjoyed by the younger generation too.
These movies still stand out today and their influences can be heavily seen in today’s cinema. They are still great to watch today, nearly 30 years later.
Let’s cut to the chase, these are 5 movies which I have loved since I first saw them. Give them a try yourself to see what I’m talking about.
You may know Elisabeth Shue from her recent work, but in the 1980’s she was known as the star of Adventures in Babysitting. Set on the streets of Chicago, this is a cult movie these days and has stood the test of time.
A sports movie that still has me in hysterics is the wonderful Major league. There are two sequel movies but the original is still the best.
A truly iconic movie from the 1980’s in the Breakfast Club. Starring many of the young stars of that era including Molly Ringwald, you will probably have heard of it even if you haven’t gotten around to seeing it yet. This is a movie that really deserves the title ‘classic’.
A young kid skips school and takes his girlfriend and best buddy to spend the day in the big city of Chicago. This is the simple plot of Ferris Bueller’s day off, but the great script and strong performances of a young Matthew Broderick and his co-stars really make this a movie to be watched over and over again.
Two hours of action and shoot em ups shouldn’t make great cinema, but when the leading man is Bruce Willis in THAT vest, you will see why Die Hard was, and is, one of the greatest action movies of all time. They are still producing sequels to this these days, but for me, this is still the best.

The Three Greatest Box Office Productions With Three Dimensional Effects
February 27, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Well it’s actually happening, what the experts have been trying to perfect for years is here, 3D has well and truly arrived and looks as if it is now here to stay. Concerts, movies and even sporting events are being produced in 3D, which adds that extra dimension of realism and enjoyment.
There are so any ways that 3D technology can be used to heighten our enjoyment of major events and also movies. An extra layer is added to the film to make us feel as if we are really there, and we feel as if we can reach out and touch it.
The recent phenomenal success of Avatar can’t have escaped anyone’s notice. Even if you haven’t seen it; you can’t have failed to see the trailers and been impressed by the technology. This is going to improve even further and we can only imagine what we will be seeing in the future.
Of all the movies that have been made in 3D, and there have been quite a few, 3 really stand out for me. You many have already seen them, if you haven’t you should really make the effort.
A fine example of how the 3D technology could be used in a completely new medium is the U2 concert. This made us all feel as if we were there in front row seats. For those of us who couldn’t get there in person, this sure was the next best thing.
The quality of the sound and visuals are second to none. Everyone I spoke to who were lucky enough to see this felt exactly the same as I did. When you consider how few tickets for events like this actually go on sale, the sheer volume of people that more of these would attract is incredible.
The best way to appreciate a 3D movie from a few years ago was to compare it with an ordinary version of the same thing; and this is where the makers of Beowulf were very clever. The versions released in 2007 were one of each, and the ordinary one was pretty ordinary.
The 3D version, however, was simply stunning. The visual effects blew you away and it was praised by cinema goers and critics alike. The movies released since have more than likely taken a lot of inspiration from Beowulf.
“And the winner of the 2010 Academy award for best picture is…….. ” Avatar, as far as I’m concerned. Don’t get me started on those who keep saying it’s a cartoon; this is a 3D technological triumph, which deserves all its plaudits and should provide James Cameron with yet another few Oscars for his mantelpiece.

If you ever take a look at making soy candles, you may realize that you wish to take it up yourself. Then you simply melt your wax, and then pour it into the mould where the wick should be waiting in place.
The pillar style candle also implements a mildew. But the difference is in how you handle the wick. Wick size is very important in this case. If you leave your wick too long, the candle can burn too fast and melt the wax too swiftly, causing it to run too much down the side. And if you leave the wick too short, then your candle can tunnel. It takes a pillar style mold to make these candles.
The next basic sort of candle, is the container candle. For amateurs this is the best kind to start with. It does not require any kind of mold, you just find a good container of any sort, like a jar, and fill it with your soy wax on top of a wick. You set the wick, melt the wax, pour it, let it cool. The wax and your perfume are the heart and the soul of the candle. You can simply find perfume oil at candle shops and craft shops. But watch that you buy from someone who sells by volume and not by weight. And be certain the oil you select is compatible with soy wax.
Now you want to find yourself some dye. Candle dyes will mostly be in block form, but occasionally you can get the dye in chips. The blocks are full of colored wax that you melt into your soy wax for colorization. You’ll be able to find your dye in liquid form as well . It’ll only take a few tiny drops of the liquid due to its high concentration. And you’ll be able to find most any color you want.
One of the most significant parts of making these candles is how you handle the wicks. Wicks are the major factor for the way the candle is going to burn. Generally, the wick size should be in relation to the diameter of the container. It isn’t a rule that’s fixed, but just a kind of guideline for people that are only starting out. Using the tabbed wicks is the way to go, they already have the metal disc attached.

The Dissolution Of Segmented Cable Television Networks
February 18, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Think back to when cable TV first appeared, could you remember how different it was back then? Going back about 20 years ago, cable TV had quite a few differences compared to what we have now.
Back then, many of the channels were split up into niche channels. There was something for everyone and you could easily find the type of thing that you were interested in or that you felt like watching at that moment.
Back then, both Bravo and A&E focused specifically on the fine arts and every show they aired was on that subject area. However, when you take a look at these channels today, they have begun to show things outside of the niche subject area and have started to show reality TV.
Another prime example is that of MTV and VH1, who both originated as 24 hour music networks. Can you remember the days where all they would mainly show were music videos?
But sadly, this can no longer be said of either of them. They both have more things going on other than the music videos that they were once famous for.
On both MTV and VH1, there are a ton of reality TV shows. Whether they’re dating shows like Rock of Love, or reality shows that chronicle the lives of people like MTV’s Jersey Shore, it seems like everything on both of these networks is also reality TV.
There is a channel, Game Show Network, which tends to remain focused on its niche area as most of the viewing is of game shows. However, even the Game Show Network is showing signs of introducing new ideas such as the reality TV phenomenon with its new series of the Newlywed Game Host.
Let’s hope that television stations can return to their roots. I know that I’m not the only viewer who’d appreciate it.
In addition to television, the author additionally frequently contributes articles about heat pump thermostats along with the White Rodgers programmable thermostat.

I can’t remember a month of January that brought about so many great new music releases, especially in the rock world. These releases have been long awaited by their fans, and I’m happy to say that a few of them have been just as good as people expected they’d be.
There have been some outstanding new releases during the first month of the year. Let’s take a look at a few of the ones that may interest you.
First of all, Vampire Weekend followed up its self titled debut album with Contra, the band’s second release. Since their debut CD, the young band from New York has wowed critics with its original sound, so expectations were obviously high for their follow up.
Suffice to say that Contra has lived up to expectations. While it may not be as imminently accessible as the group’s first album, a few listens begin to reveal some of the richly layered songs and the level of thought that went into each and every one of them.
If you like the dream pop genre, the best release of the year may undoubtedly belong to Beach House. This is a bold statement when you consider the fact that the year just started, but Teen Dream their newest release, is simply that good.
This is a true dream pop CD with beautiful vocals and dreamy guitars that literally pull you into a state of trance. I couldn’t imagine a better new CD to fall asleep to than this one right now.
Lastly, Owen Pallett has come out with a new album known as Heartland. Critics are loving this CD, as the sounds are intricately layered and truly unique.
Pallett, who used to go by Final Fantasy, has hit a home run with this release and this accomplished songwriter continues to improve with each new release. Listen to this if you have an adventurous taste for new music.
In addition to entertainment, the writer additionally frequently shares writing regarding wooden kitchen stools and wheeled stools.
