Back To School With Metal Art Portfolio Cases

August 30, 2010 | Leave a Comment

The students of first year art and design are faced with several situations and details that they may get lost taking into consideration the number of factors that they need to consider before getting into school. If the concern is not for the school fee, it may be for arrangements for boarding and lodging. These details, although important, may distract them and they may end up taking wrong decisions when buying school supplies, especially art portfolio cases. When this occurs most of the students get frustrated and this degrades their overall performance in school.

Many of the families are on a budget and they do not want to buy back to school supplies every semester. While most of the students feel like going to a new semester with everything new, this may not be feasible option especially for courses that are hard on the pocket. This is the reason why the portfolio cases bought by the students at the start of art school should last them until they graduate or even when they enter into professional life. Of all the portfolio cases available in the market, the only ones offering this feature are metal portfolio cases. Not only are the long lasting, they are shaped and styled to be elegant and protective and provide the kind of professional image that is needed throughout your life.

Most of the metal portfolio cases come with latches to guarantee flexibility, protection and long lasting quality, not like the zipper and two handle systems that is seen on most of the traditional portfolio cases. What this means is that art works would no longer be at a risk of getting damaged or torn by getting stuck inside the zipper while the zipper is being zipped or locked. Apart from all this latches are designed to keep water out of the portfolio, thus protecting the contents from water damage.

Metal case can generally resist all forms of damage, wear and tear whether the owner has a firm grip or sweaty palms while carrying the portfolio. On the other side leather may lose its shine, stitches or its complete appearance after a few months of use. People with hands that sweat a lot would quickly begin to notice that the area around the handles has lost its color due to the sweat and salt transferred by the hands of the user. Most of these factors do not have any effect on metal portfolio cases and this is the reason why they are unmatched when it comes to style and security in the long run.

When it comes to showing professors coursework, skills, dedication and appearance all work together to get an excellent grade. Professors will not take a student’s work that is full of creases, and damages seriously and will grade it according to how it has been presented: not satisfactory. Depending on the impact and given situation, traditional art portfolio cases can become crumbled and end up damaging the contents that are stored within them. Metal art portfolio cases on the other hand can withstand a high range of impacts without showing any signs of compromise in the contents that they are storing nor on the outer case itself.

Buy your next art case online and save. For ultimate protection, look into aluminum portfolio cases.

The Good And The Bad: Memorial Ideas

July 31, 2010 | Leave a Comment

During the last few years I have observed and seen some pretty good memorial ideas but I have also observed and seen some pretty bad memorial ideas also. Now, what determines whether or not a memorial idea is either good or bad. What makes the difference? Is it personal preference alone? Or, are some of these ideas good or bad for a reason?

The intent of this text is to address these above questions as well as to explain a template of success that you and your committee can use to find and determine the best memorial ideas.

The template was created by asking myself and many others, including clients, three defined questions. Now, these three questions have helped clients to get to the their anticipated end result with regards to their memorial ideas, execution. These questions might be obvious to some, they are considered profound by others. In my experiences, I have learned and realized that people and committees who wish for a memorial or monument, have a (human) tendency to get through the process quickly without considering “the beginning” as much.

First question (1): what is the purpose of the memorial? Monuments and memorials can serve a whole spectrum of purposes. The key in answering these questions is to figure out and determine what the purpose of your memorial will be. Is it educational, motivational or purely functional? Is the purpose something else? I would suggest that you spend some good time thinking through and discussing as to what the answer to this question might be for you or your committee.

Second question (2): What are the emotions that you are wanting to capture with the memorial? This can be a real tricky endeavor. Emotions are often hard to define and pin down. Having said that, I will make you this promise; the more time you and your committee spend time discussing this particular question, the better time you will have spent doing so and the more powerful the overall reaction to your project will be in years to come. Emotions that you might want to capture could be: patriotism, respect, sorrow for an event, honor for the dead or the living, freedom, liberty or responsibility.

Last or third question. What is your target audience with regards to your prospective monument? The same difficulty or challenge exists with this question as it does with the question above, which is the actual defining of your target audience. The following questions are examples of how you might pin down the answer to third question: is your audience made up of senior citizens? Males or females? You get the idea. Really think this one through…

Whatever you do in life, and whenever you execute your ideas, make sure to keep the end goal in mind. These questions and answers given to you above, can help you determine and carry out good memorial ideas.

Let MonumentArts.com help you explore your memorial ideas with you or your committee. We can provide you the necessary guidance to move your monument project forward.

Many people visiting Paris on vacation misunderstand that there’s only one modern art museum in Paris.

The Most Famous Artwork Of The 20th Century

July 26, 2010 | Leave a Comment

The art world in the 20th Century began with a new movement, a colourful expression called Fauvism, which was spearheaded by none other than Henry Matisse. It was the first real break from the impressionist styles of the 19th Century. A few years later, this laid the foundation for another style called Cubism.

Both eras, both the Fauvist and Cubist, resulted in masterpieces that are considered priceless today. They also opened the door for what we know as modern art, ushering in new generations of innovative artists.

Henry Matisse painted a Fauvist creation known as “The Dance” in 1909. Its stunning bright colors and abstract images would influence artists later on in the century, including Pablo Picasso, one of the founders of the Cubist movement. To painting was acquired by Nelson Rockefeller soon after its completion. To protect the painting, it was eventually donated to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, where it hangs today. It is far too valuable to be kept in a residential location. Getting art insurance for it would be essential!

Matisse created another version of “The Dance” a year later for Russian art collector Sergei Shchukin, who also collected artwork from Pablo Picasso, Monet, Paul Czanne, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin. The entire collection was seized during the 1917 Soviet Revolution and distributed between the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. It includes 57 paintings by Picasso, 38 by Matisse, 13 Monets, 8 Cezannes, 16 Gauguins and works by Renoir, Van Gogh, Derain, Rousseau, Signac, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Other 20th Century masterpieces that have demanded a fairly hefty sum, including Cubist works by Matisse’s greatest rival Pablo Picasso and synthetic cubist works by Albert Gleizes, Fernand Lger, Juan Gris, Marcel Duchamp, and surrealist Giorgio De Chirico.

The most famous piece of art from the 20th Century, however, is one that was painted much later on. Norman Rockwell’s “Breaking Home Ties” was sold to his neighbour Donald Trachet in 1960 for $900. In the 1970’s, while in the midst of a divorce, he had a copy made of the painting and that went on display for many years with experts believing it was a Rockwell original. In 2006, after Trachet’s death, his sons discovered a movable wall in his home and found the original painting behind it. It was sold for $15.416 million at auction in 2007.

Ashton Mapletoft writes a number of articles on homes, including art insurance.
