A Guide To Install A Bath Towel Rack
March 13, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Bathroom towel racks require a simple installation process. Since wet towels may hang on these racks, it’s important to make sure they’re installed in a strong and secure way. The most important piece of advice I can share when installing a towel rack is to be certain you do not just install the racks into a drywall. Always hang one side on a stud in the wall. Without the extra support from the stud, your towel rack will eventually fall which will leave you with holes in your wall! In this guide you’ll learn how to install your own bathroom towel rack.
The first part of the process is finding the right spot for the rack to hang. A common mistake is to set the rack up in an inconvenient place, which allows for things in the bathroom to interfere. An example of this problem would be placing the rack behind a door. I always suggest placing the towel rack within an arms reach away from the shower or bath, so a towel can easily be reached when you’re ready to exit the shower.
Always make sure that your towel rack is positioned in a spot that will not be exposed to dripping water. Dripping water will damage the rack and this is another way to leave a hole in the wall. You’ll need a stud finder in order to locate the closest stud to your desired location. Keep running the stud finder in that area until you find the stud. This will be where you’ll hang one side of the rack, on the stud.
Now that you’ve found a location, choose a height that’s suitable for the average size person (unless everyone’s extremely small or tall). If it’s in a child’s bathroom, you may want to consider placing the towel rack on the lower side, unless you have a stepstool for the child.
With a pencil, mark the wall at the height you’ve chosen to hang the towel rack. Now grab the rack and place it on the mark, holding the other side up on a horizontal line. If you have a leveler handy, place it on top of the rack to confirm it’s sitting on a straight line. Once you have it in place, mark each spot with your pencil.
Now it’s time to drill some holes. Take the drill and drill the screw holes, where you’ve marked on the wall. The holes on the side opposite of the stud should be bigger, so the anchors can fit. The anchors will provide the extra support that the weaker side needs. You can hold them up in order to measure an accurate size.
Once you have those holes in place, place the anchors on the weaker side. The anchor will have a wider side and this side should be facing out. At this point, you’ll be able to put the towel rack in its desired position and screw in both sides.
Before completion, it’s always best to test the towel rack. Make sure it can hold the towels and feels firmly placed in the wall. If it feels secure, your towel rack should be good to go!

What Is Movement Training For Actors?
March 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment
If you intend on making a career for yourself on the stage or on film, you need to know what is good movement training for actors. The nuances in movement are just as–if not more–useful than how you look and how you deliver lines. It is one of the hardest things for people to master. Sure, you can mimic how a person from a certain background might talk. But can you move as they would move? This is the difference between decent actors and great actors.
One of the best places to start is in a dance class. Ballet, specifically, teaches you how to control your body and muscles. Ballet’s greatness and difficulty comes from the fact that you must learn how your lines feel. Great dancers should know purely by feel when their leg is at a thirty degree angle or when their hips are not turned out enough, or if their arm is not perfectly rounded.
All measures of dance are fantastic, even if you are an actor who only wants to play ‘tough guy’ roles. Not only does it teach you how to properly control and contort your body, but you should also use any opportunity to learn new skills. You never know what part could be your big break. It could be the part of a mafia don who has a specific way of moving and knows how to swing dance. Never underestimate how specific and strange different roles can be.
Stage combat is a vastly useful class to take. Safety, especially if you are intending on being a stage actor, is one of the biggest components in your career. Many a career has been cut short or jobs lost to understudies because of an injury. In addition, combat will train you to mime very well and fake pain or anger. It is difficult to realistically portray someone in pain when you yourself feel nothing. It can often be very over-acted and look silly.
These are important trade secrets to learn. It will also give you an opportunity to think of your own stage combat moves that could be very complicated and exciting for an audience. The facial training you will gain from this is invaluable. By teaching yourself to look pained or upset–and by teaching yourself to hide actors’ tricks from the audience–is what separates mediocre actors from good ones.
The Alexander Technique is a study of movement specially designed for actors. It is often a required course for any acting or drama degree. It also involves safety measures, but it is more in terms of preserving your knees on unforgiving stages and keeping good posture for back safety. This is a crucial course when it comes to learning your body and how to best control it.
By treating your body as building blocks that must all be stacked correctly, you can manipulate the ’stacking’ to get across certain characteristics or emotions. This also helps teach you how to fill your diaphragm with air so you can be louder on stage. The Alexander Technique is sometimes used to help medical patients relieve stress on some of their body.

Why You Should Add A Retractable Awning To Your Home
March 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Retractable awnings will help your home in several ways. The first benefit you’ll notice will occur when you get your electric bill during the summer and realize the decrease! Your home will have a new and elegant look, not to mention you’ll also be able to enjoy some shade on a hot summer day.
A retractable awning will protect both indoor and outdoor space. The most common use for an awning is to protect from the sun, not only on your skin but from damaging indoor and outdoor furniture. With the protection, they’ll also provide shade reducing the heat indoors and outdoors as well. It’s important to search for water resistant fabric, so it can accommodate your needs even in the rain.
It’s been said that the energy bills will decrease up to 25% during the summer. Since the awnings will protect the room, you won’t need to use your AC as often. Rooms that face south or west get the most sun, so it’s recommended the windows of these rooms have awnings. Temperatures in these rooms can reduce up to 75% with an awning.
Besides these benefits mentioned, retractable awnings can also add a nice look to your home. I’ve seen some homes that have completely changed their look with the addition of awnings. They can really add a charming look if done right. Some people even use these awnings to create more outdoor space - it’s a lot cheaper than construction!
A retractable awning can simply be installed on your own without having to pay for installation. They also have a reasonable initial cost and most will come with a long warranty. If you have the awning for 10 years, it ends up being extremely low cost over time. Some awnings require more attention than others, but if you spend a bit extra you’ll find an awning that doesn’t need much attention.
One main difference between a retractable awning and a canopy is the durability. Since these awnings can retract, they’ll last much longer and will have protection from situations that can damage the awning. Bad weather such as snow, rain, hail and heavy winds can all damage the material. With a pile up of snow, the arms on the awning can easily break. Having the option to retract will only keep your awning lasting longer!
There’s a wide range of prices for retractable awnings. Medium sized awnings usually start in the $500 range, while the larger options tend to cost $900+. Of course, it all depends on the quality though! Motorized awnings can also be purchased with a starting price of $1,500+.
There are many options available when shopping around for an awning. Take advantage of shopping online to search before making any decisions. Once you’re all set up, you’ll truly enjoy sipping a cold one on a hot summer day!

How To Dress Up Your Backyard
March 8, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Only you can improve the appearance of your back yard and make it look like you know it should. So what are you waiting for? Get out there!
If you only have a tight budget to work with then you need to make a list of improvements that have to be made and have it in order of importance. You will probably be surprised at how much you can get done with very little money. The appearance of your yard will be so much improved you will be amazed.
Your patches of dirt can become luscious lawns simply by putting some sod down on them, and the appearance will be greatly enhanced.
Although laying sod can be quite hard on you, it’s relatively easy once you get going and needn’t cost the earth. Shrubs or flowers will also greatly enhance the appearance.
You get the most stunning display from Roses, and they aren’t difficult to look after either. Any local greenhouse will show you the varieties and colors that are on offer and give you advice about planting and maintenance. Some are really hardy and take hardly any looking after.
A front yard with a pond in it is really eye catching. The most popular types are the pre shaped plastic ones. You need to measure the ground and dig a space deep enough to the top is flush with the ground.
When you have your pond in place the fun starts. Choosing your plants or fish can be really exciting, or maybe you have decided to have a fountain pond. This is a big decision that needs careful consideration.
If you enjoy sitting outside in the summer but want some shade, a garden canopy is perfect. So easy to put up and take down again, they are an essential item to protect you from the ravages of the sun.

The Sensibility Of Cleaning Up Your Kitchen As You Make Meals
March 5, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Cooking is one of our favorite hobbies, we love going into the kitchen and creating tasty meals and treats fro our loved ones. What we don’t love, however, is the trail of destruction that we leave behind. How come there’s so much mess?
This has bugged us for generations, well, since the days of masters and servants ceased to exist. At one time, all our ancestors had to do was sit at the table, have their meals brought to them and then retire. The staff downstairs had to worry about all the tidying up.
The lesser classes didn’t suffer from this problem either as they could afford neither servants nor expensive meals.
The thing is, with today’s so called time saving gadgets, there seems to be more mess than ever. As well as utensils we have used, there are also a stack of appliances such as blenders that need to be cleaned out.
Of course, you may well be very wealthy and not have a clue what I’m actually talking about, but I’m guessing not. Ok, you may have a cleaning lady a couple of times a week, but a bombsite kitchen isn’t really something you want to leave for her.
So we still search for that magic something that will enable us to turn out lavish gastronomic creations without any of the mess. As, sadly, it simply doesn’t exist, here’s something you can try instead.
Clean as you go is now my kitchen motto. Keep a bowl of hot, soapy water and wash each piece as soon as you’ve used it. Then when you’ve finished, there will only be the last couple of things that you’ve used, so much better than a teetering pile of dirty dishes.
In the long run, leaving everything to the end is making more work for yourself. This is particularly difficult if you have guests for dinner, you know what a state your kitchen is in but can’t abandon your guests to go and clean up. Cleaning as you go means you can enjoy your evening as you know your kitchen is okay.

Steps To Building A Patio Awning
March 4, 2010 | Leave a Comment
During a hot summer day, patios and decks tend to absorb a lot of heat. Sitting in these open outdoor spaces can definitely get uncomfortable as you sit there sweating and burning in the sun. Many people add awnings to solve this problem, but they can be a bit expensive. If you want to have the luxury of sitting in the shade on a beautiful summer day, there is a cost-effective way of doing this. By building your own awning, you’ll save a ton of money and you’ll be able to enjoy some shade as well! This article will guide you on how to build your own awning.
This project will require a short list of tools and materials. It will require the following; a tape measure, an electric drill, four sections of rope, four stakes, four grommets, two key rings, two screw hooks, a sewing machine (make sure you have a large needle), two supporting poles and a large piece of canvas. It may sound like a lot, but nothing is really expensive on this list.
Take the large canvas and measure the amount you’ll need by figuring out how large the awning will be. You should always purchase extra canvas, since you’ll hem it and cut it. Once you’ve measured it out, then sew the hems on the outside of the material. You don’t want the material to fray, so this is a must! Nylon threading is also recommended since it can handle the outdoor conditions better than other options available. Now proceed to install one grommet on each corner.
Take the tape measure and measure one side of the awning. You want to measure from grommet to grommet. Then proceed to drill two pilot holes in the wood siding where the awning will branch out from. Take the hooks and screw them into the pilot holes you’ve just created. If you try screwing the hooks in before the holes are drilled in, you may end up having issues. It’s a much simpler process by drilling the pilot holes.
Continue by installing a single key ring on each of the grommets. Start on the side that’s closer to the house. Place the key rings on the hooks. At this point you should have placed a total of two key rings on the two hooks. Now one side of your awning is complete!
You’re awning should be hanging off those two hooks and it will need support from the other side. You currently have support from the house, but the awning needs two poles to support the other side. Pull the canvas out in order to determine where the poles will stand and make sure the canvas has a tight and clean look. Once you’ve determined a place for the poles, either place them into the dirt of use a sturdy flat base stand to support the poles. The poles will then go through the grommets on the canvas awning.
Now it’s time to use the rope. The rope will play a major role as a support system. Take the rope and tie it to the grommets, on the side of the poles. Since you have four ropes, use two ropes on each side of the pole. You’ll want to stake the ropes into the ground for support. One rope should point directly straight out from the pole and the other should point directly to the side at a ninety degree angle for more support. Do this to both poles.
With these simple steps, you can build your own awning. It will only take a few hours and it won’t cost nearly as much as purchasing and having an awning professionally installed. However, it will accomplish your goal of keeping you cool on those hot summer days!

Tips on Buying A Sectional Leather Sofa
February 22, 2010 | Leave a Comment
A leather sectional sofa is one of the more chic and contemporary options available if you’re looking for a new piece of furniture for your home. They’ve become more and more popular for their fine looks as well as the durability and simple caring process. If you have a large room, then a sectional leather sofa is perfect! This guide will share some of the important tips that you will need to know before purchasing a new sectional sofa!
The first step before you can begin the search is taking measurements. We want to make sure the sofa you’re going to purchase fits the room, so make sure to measure a maximum size as well as a minimum. A sofa that’s too small for the room will definitely not look right! Come up with an idea of how you would like to configure the sofa and measure that area.
Typically a sectional sofa’s pieces shouldn’t have a problem fitting through your doorways; at least a standard size door. However, not every doorway is standard as I’ve witnessed some extremely narrow doorways. Measure the doorways to make sure the pieces will fit.
Now that you’ve taken your measurements, you can begin shopping. There are going to be different choices of leather grains for you to choose from; top-grain leather or split-leather. Top-grain leather will cost more, but it will also last longer so it maybe worth the extra investment. It’s more durable and has a more natural appearance. Top-grain leather often has several color tones in the leather, while split-leather is very consistent and won’t show other colors or patterns.
This brings me to choosing the right color for your new sofa. The most durable option when choosing a color is leather that’s been treated with pigments. There is a negative factor to this treatment; the leather won’t appear as natural or feel as natural as other options. On the other end of the spectrum is aniline-leather which appears and feels the most natural. The reason for this appearance is because aniline-leather does not go through any treatments, but it’s less durable and can stain easily. In between the two options is semi-aniline, which is treated with a light wash.
For a softer option, suede and nubuck are available. When top-grain or split leather is buffed, this process creates a suede or nubuck material. In my opinion, these options are very comfortable and feel very soft. On the downside, they’re tough to keep clean and care for.
Another important aspect of the sofa is the cushions. Besides comfort (which is extremely important), it’s important to note the style of cushion. Can they be removed from the sofa or are they attached? In most cases they’ll be attached, but removable cushions are much easier for cleaning purposes.
These are some of the key points I’ve learned over the years working in the furniture industry. There are many options, so be sure to shop around before making your final decision

Consider Consuming Pizza Slices With These Toppings
February 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment
The city of New York is my home, and it’s a fabulous place. It’s been said to offer the best pizzas in the world, and it’s certainly true that when you’re in town you don’t have to look very far to find a pizzeria. It seems as if every block is laced with great places to eat this delicious food.
As a result, I’ve had the privilege of enjoying a very wide variety of slices and styles. During my time spent eating this delicious treat, I’ve come across some pretty interesting types and I’d like to share a few of them with you today.
If you appreciate creative cookery, I’m sure you’d like to try these suggestions. Made at home or ordered from a restaurant, I’m sure you’ll agree they’re a real treat.
If you’ve never tried a mac and cheese slice, I would suggest that you definitely give it a shot if you can. This seems unconventional at first, and it is, but it’s absolutely delicious. If the macaroni is breaded on top, the slice should be even more enjoyable with its crispy, rich composition.
Another very popular slice at an one of the city’s top pizzerias is a spinach artichoke variety. This is like your typical spinach style slice, but it has artichokes and a creamy blend of cheese throughout. Many call it the best pizza slide they’ve ever had in their lives.
If, like me, you’re fond of buffalo chicken, you’ll just love it on a hot pizza crust. When you bite into a buffalo chicken slice you’ll think you’re in heaven with all of the strong flavors blending so well together.
You can increase the flavor of your meal by adding blue cheese to the pizza or having a blue cheese dip on the side. Just the crust and dip are almost a meal in themselves and I always find myself wanting just a little bit more, even after I’m done eating the slice.
I hope you are inspired to try at least one of these unconventional pizza recipes. I love all three and hope you’ll be just as impressed as I am.

The Parts that Make Up an Exhaust System
February 11, 2010 | Leave a Comment
I’m pretty certain that the average person doesn’t understand how a car exhaust system works and how each part operates. Having knowledge on this information can not only save you money from getting ripped off when you need to do some work on your exhaust system, but it can also help keep you and your family safe. This article will discuss how an exhaust system works on a car and its different parts.
Every car owner wants to know their automobile is safe. An exhaust system can cause some serious problems if it’s not maintained properly. The most important part of keeping a safe system is by frequently inspecting if there are any holes in the exhaust system. You can do this yourself! If there are holes in the exhaust, dangerous fumes can easily enter your car. If you do find any holes, I suggest you bring your car in immediately.
An exhaust system is made up of five different parts which all have different duties. In this article I’ll cover these five parts; the exhaust manifold, the exhaust pipe, an oxygen sensor, a catalytic converter and the muffler.
The exhaust manifold is responsible for releasing the gases. This is done through one pipe. The manifold is attached to the cylinder head where the emissions take place. This part can be made from different materials, but most commonly made with cast iron.
Any car that requires fuel injection must have an Oxygen sensor. This part is usually located in the exhaust manifold, but can also be found by the pipe. An O2 sensor is responsible for evaluating the ratio between air and fuel. It’s specifically looking for oxygen levels in the ratio and during this process the computer will determine the amount of fuel required to get the most efficient levels for fuel economy.
The catalytic converter takes the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons and converts these chemicals into carbon dioxide and water. You’ll usually find a catalytic converter made with a honey comb filtration system with is located between the muffler and the manifold.
The muffler handles noise pollution. Without a muffler cars would be extremely loud and would probably violate variances throughout the states. The muffler handles the noise coming from the exhaust and softens the noise by dissipating the energy from the noise.
The last part of the exhaust system is the exhaust pipe. It’s often made from steel products, like stainless steel or even aluminum steel tubing. The exhaust pipe runs from the tail pipe through all the parts mentioned above.
This writer enjoys cars and is an expert when it comes to diesel exhaust system. More information can be found at his site at dieselexhaustsystems.org. His favorite upgrade on a car is a new high performance exhausts which is covered on his site as well.
Choosing a Leather Headboard
February 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment
Adding a leather headboard to your bedroom is a great way to add some excitement to the room, especially since it attracts a lot of attention. Since leather headboards have become more popular over the recent years, there are now many different options to choose from. In this article, I’ll share some of my favorites that I’ve recently come across while shopping for a new leather headboard.
Of course everyone has a different budget, so I’ll discuss a few different options. The first option is on the average side if you’re looking for a quality piece of furniture. Crate and Barrel exclusively sells the Archer Leather Headboard.
The Archer Leather Headboard is priced between $999.00 and $1,099.00, depending on the size. It has a 1940’s look, inspired by a Hollywood slipper chair. The button-tufted look also includes a faint wing look, while the deep brown color provides an old American feel. The protective coating will keep the leather looking as good as new for a long time to come. I’ve only seen great customer reviews and ratings on this headboard, so expect great things!
JC Penney offers a great option if you’re on a tighter budget. They’re carrying the Nash Bonded Leather Head Board, which is a great selection priced between $379.00 and $599.00.
This board has a great look as it’s made with a beautiful arch. This graceful headboard is covered with bonded-leather which combines polyurethane, polyester/cotton materials. The protection allows for the headboard to withstand spills, sunlight and anything else that may cause damage. Inside the headboard are layers of polyester foam padding to make it extremely comfortable, so feel free to lean back!
One of my favorite sites to find a nice piece of furniture is Horchow.com. It’s considered mid-level as far as quality, since there are many options out there that would cost ten’s of thousands for this type of piece. This is the most expensive of the three and if you’re looking for a beautiful brown leather headboard, this is another great option.
The Old Hickory Tannery Headboard costs between $1,399.00 and $1,799.00 (depending on size). This elegant board has a maple frame and tufted brown leather. The frame has a hand-rubbed antique looking mahogany rubbed finish and the leather is covered with a material that’s similar to heavy muslin. This leather headboard can last a lifetime!
Now that I’ve shared with you some of my favorite pieces, it’s time for you to go and shop! Be sure to shop online, since there are many options to choose from and always check it out the samples or in stores before making this investment!
This author is a big fan of a quality leather headboard and also loves quality black headboards. You can find more information on designing a bedroom at leatherheadboard.org, this authors site.
