Key Components For Your Custom Car Stereo

July 22, 2010 | Leave a Comment

A high end sound system can really be a great investment in a car if you’re into music. However, with so many different stereo systems and features available these days, there are several key components to include. In this guide, I’ll share with you some of the things you need to know before heading out to purchase a new sound system for your car.

The quality of speakers plays a huge role in the sound. If you’re not going to go with quality speakers, then hold off until you can spend more. The speakers should always be full range. Full range speakers will make a clear difference and only deliver quality sounds.

The next key component to a quality car sound system is the sub-woofer. This is the piece of equipment that will keep your bass bumping, but more importantly, delivering the bass in a clear tone. Without a sub-woofer, it’s very hard for your speakers to properly deliver the deep tones.

Sirius radio or any other sort of satellite radio can provide your sound system with different styles of music for your enjoyment. In fact, you can choose from any type of music genre out there. Satellite radio will guarantee that any of your passengers are satisfied with the style of music (as long as you give them any say!).

If you really want to get tech savvy in the car, look into a control panel that has the option of using a USB port. If you want to add your own music and don’t want to rely on satellite radio, you’ll be able to simply upload your music from a flash drive via a USB port. Now you won’t have to worry about which CD to put on or have to pull over while driving, just to change your CDs.

In order to provide enough power for your system to run smoothly, you’ll need an amplifier. The amp must be able to provide enough power so they can handle the output voltage.

Pricing will vary for each piece of equipment, although the starting price for most of these components starts at around $50. Amplifiers can actually be the most expensive of all these features and can cost over $1,000 for a top of the line amp. Subwoofers can cost up to $700, while speakers are the least expensive of these three items.

With that said, you can have a high end sound system for under $3,000. There are several different ways to set up your sound system, but the components I’ve mentioned are key.

The Wonderful Origination Of The Guinness World Records

July 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment

One of the most popular books that come out every year is the Guinness book of records. This is now more commonly known as the Guinness world records. This popular book chronicles things such as the best and worst or the longest and shortest or many other recordable facts from throughout the world.

Norris and Ross McWhirter are accredited with the role of publishing the first ever Guinness book of records in Great Britain way back in 1955. It seems strange that the book was published by two Irish Journalist twins and not many people realize that it was also commissioned by a large Irish brewery. The Guinness brewery in Ireland is responsible for the commissioning of this famous book.

Not only would this book promote the name of Guinness worldwide but it was a good way of people being able to settle the many little arguments that they used to have while in the bars.

It is rumored that the original idea came in 1951 when a certain Sir Hugh Beaver, who was at the time a managing director of the Guinness Empire was participating in a shooting party. He somehow got into an exchange of words with another person about Europe’s fastest bird. They argued about whether it was the Koshin Golden Plover or the Grouse.

Sir Hugh thought that he would find the answer in his reference books that night in his Home at Castlebridge House. It turned out though that his reference books were not all that forthcoming with the information that he required.

Then a thought struck his mind that perhaps a book like this could in fact be quite interesting. This was the start of the Guinness book of records.

The Guinness book of records uncannily is also in the Guinness book of records for being the best selling copyrighted series book in the world. That is because it has literally sold millions of copies since its inception in 1955.

The Guinness book of records holds another record too. Funnily enough it is the most stolen of all the books in the American public libraries.

The beauty of a wooden chess set is inherent in the wood. Maple, ebony, rosewood and boxwood are among the more popular types of wood used to make a wooden chess set, often in combinations to create the two colors of pieces and board squares. Pieces and boards may match in a wooden chess set, or be bought separately to provide a more interesting contrast effect. Sets vary according to their style, and can be etched, carved or plain. Board edgings differ too, some being moulded or intricately carved, and the weight and height of the boards can vary as well.

Staunton chess pieces are recommended for beginners as they are very well balanced, easy to handle and long lasting pieces.

An Instructional Article On Safely Installing A Basketball Hoop

July 20, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Imagine being able to walk outside of your home and practice your lay ups and jump shots. Instead of having to head out to the gym or park to practice your basketball game, why not add your very own in-ground basketball hoop? This way you’ll be able to practice anytime you want and for as long as you want!

We all know that the only way to avoid those airballs and bricks are by practicing. You’ll be able to practice more than ever by adding a hoop to your home. In-ground hoops can easily be installed. This guide was created in order to help you understand what it takes to install an in-ground hoop.

Before you begin to unload any of the parts of the hoop, make sure you have all the right tools and materials. You’ll need concrete mix (850lbs of concrete) and a wheel barrel to mix it in. You’ll also need water, to make the mix. Other tools include a ladder, several screwdrivers, a tape measure, a shovel and a wrench. You’ll also need a marker.

If you are missing anything from this list, I highly recommend you find it or buy it. Borrow from the neighbor if you need to. If you try to do the installation without some of these tools, it can only lead to a hoop that’s not properly and safely installed. If it’s done right, the hoop can last for many years.

The next step, which you’ve probably already planned out, is finding the right place to install the hoop. Some people will go as far as finding a grass area and making a court, but it’s most common to position the hoop on the driveway. The most important part is that the area is flat. By playing with slopes, bumps or holes, it’s just an injury about to happen.

Once you’re comfortable with an area in your home, it’s time to get to work. I’d recommend asking someone to help install the hoop with you. It can definitely be done by one person, but having the help will make it much easier.

It’s time to start digging, so dig a hole that’s 2 x 2 feet. It should be about 2 feet deep as well. Then take your marker and indicate a spot 18 inches from the bottom of the pole. At this point, you’ll need to get the concrete ready, so follow the instructions on the mix bag. Once the cement is ready, fill the hole all the way up with cement. Then press the cement down and place the pole in the cement up to the mark on the pole. Continue by filling the pole and confirm the pole is straight by using the level. The concrete should take about 48 hours to dry.

Now that you’ve placed the pole in and it’s secure, you’ll need to add the hoop and backboard. Make sure the hoop and backboard are secure. Then place these two parts over the pole at 10 feet. Always wait about 48 hours before adding these parts to the pole, as the concrete needs some time to dry. Once it’s in place, you’re all set to get out and enjoy!

Tips If You Want To “Burn Fat And Build Muscle”

July 20, 2010 | Leave a Comment

The goal of getting fit and in shape is a popular one. This article will give you some tips on how to burn fat and build muscle that will stand you in good stead in your quest for good physical conditioning.

Eat a balanced diet. Believe it or not this is often overlooked. The illusion that you can starve yourself into fitness, or subsist on only salad and Perrier water, is a misconception that is getting less and less credit in the popular mind, but nevertheless is still around to some degree. You need the whole range: protein, fruits and vegetables, carbs, and even fats to maintain a healthy system that will respond well to other sorts of conditioning you do.

Eat a balanced diet. Reducing calories doesn’t mean that you starve yourself or live on only salad and Perrier water. Both for health reasons and even to effectively build muscle while you burn fat you need to eat items from the four food groups: protein, carbohydrates, fats, and water. It’s not a question of what to exclude certain food types from your diet, but to eat healthier sources of it and in amounts suited to your calorie expenditure.

Use awareness of caloric supply and demand. The basic rule of thumb here is that the calories that you don’t “burn” (metabolize) potentially get stored as body fat. Calories are not in fact what is burned but are actually the energy released from certain substances when digested. If the energy potential of the compounds you’re ingesting is more than you’re expending though muscular exertion and ordinary ongoing physical function, it will get stored for future use - just as you wouldn’t dump out 5 gallons of gasoline but rather store it in your garage if you already had a full tank. So if you have an overall sense of this you can set it up in such a way that, for an extended period, you have less caloric intake than your energy expenditure. This means that to fuel your physical activities your body will use the fat you already have stored as fuel and burn it, which is what you want.

When given a choice, eat proteins rather than fats, and complex carbohydrates rather than simple ones. The standard American diet is high in both proteins and saturated fats, so getting enough of either is no problem, unless you’re attempting some sort of extreme diet. The key is to keep it moderate and emphasize one - namely protein. Since meet has a lot of saturated fats, you can use nuts, beans, rice, wheat, and brown rice as substitutes. Seldom complete proteins on their own these foods usually are complete when combined so they will supply with most of the protein content you need, with much less fat. Poultry and fish also have less fat, ad the fat they do have is often more essential. Complex carbs are found in fruits, vegetables and grains. These are sugars, but being integrated into healthier foods and being more “slow release” they are preferable in many senses to simple sugars that are either burned immediately or put into fat form for storage. So favor them when possible.

Drink plenty of water. Water is fundamental. It is necessary for good overall functioning of you system in terms of absorption, nutrient transport, digestion, metabolism, waste elimination and so on, all of which are needed during the “burn fat build muscle” process. Around eight glasses a day are recommended.

Eat a decent amount of fiber (roughage). Fiber, which is found in grains, fruits, and vegetables, is important for healthy digestion and also gets rid of cholesterol. The latter helps the liver function better, which in turns helps you burn fat better. And it is a healthy habit to get into generally. So eat leafy salads, whole grain breads and cereals, and fruit a lot if possible. Note that the latter are also full of complex carbs so they are good slow release energy sources for your workouts.

Try some metabolic “tricks.” Your metabolism is an interesting mechanism and you can use certain techniques to encourage it to burn fat. You can, of course, simply eat smaller potions, especially of high fat items, and this is often recommended. Another trick is to eat more frequently, though one might think the opposite. But as long as you don’t overdo it and load up the fat and sugar, this will get your metabolism working harder and burning up more fat, as well as fueling the muscle building. A third technique that many people swear by is to avoid eating just before bed - usually no sooner than two hours. When you’re asleep your metabolic processes, of course, slow down, so if you’ve got a large fat or carb intake you’re increasing the chances that they will be stored as surplus rather than used.

Do intense muscular exercise. This “tip” is actually a foundational principle which is becoming clearer and clearer in the fitness industry. We need to go into it a little so it is fully understood.

The usual long jog works out the leg and back muscles, and increases circulation and oxygenation, but a slow weight lift taking much less time and done at intense intervals will place greater muscular demand and thus burn more fat.

Proteins are like the raw construction materials of the body. Fats and sugars are the raw fuels. They are like the gas and electricity for the various machines used in a contraction project, while protein is the lumber concrete, steel, and so on. Just as a construction crew wouldn’t waste fuel they could use in the future to get more building done, your body doesn’t willingly waste its fat and carb fuels but rather stores them. However it’s when a project is underway - muscle building - that most of it gets used Thus you want to get some construction projects underway that will both build a stronger structure and use up all that excess fuel called fat.

This is why reducing fat at the same time as intense muscular activity is such a good combination. And in the fitness industry exercise workouts are beginning to reflect this, emphasizing things like interval training, lifting, body weight exercises, slow burn techniques and so on more and more. This is in contrast to the workouts of the pat which tended to emphasize long cardio-vascular type workouts as the fat burners.

Keep your diet and fitness simple and straightforward, rather than getting lost in complicated fitness shop talk. You basically want to just get those muscles to start demanding more energy, and not oversupply your body with energy it can’t use and must store. These tips and tricks can help, but the main point is to get the overall picture of how all this works.

To actually grab the correct supplies and equipment to melt off fat and gain muscle head to Burn Fat Build Muscle. If you really want to Burn Fat Build Muscle just about all you seriously need is the proper methods to point you in the right direction.

An Article About Technological Developments And Voice Recognition Software Enhancements

July 19, 2010 | Leave a Comment

You might have heard about something called voice recognition. These software products make it possible to talk to your computer by changing speech into text. These things have been in use for over a half century.

As technological developments have increased the power of voice recognition techniques. Now, computers can do a wide range of things including converting continuous speech, hearing more than one voice at once in addition to having multi language support.

Presently, there are three main ways which voice recognition can be useful for you. Command and control, dictation and finally the text to speech methods.

Through this amazing technology, you can use your voice like an input device. When you speak a command, software enables you to work through menus, toolbars while also starting various applications. Also, you can dictate words through your microphone that your computer will convert to text.

Accessing certain text to speech features that are found, computers use voice recognition that will allow it to speak back text that was typed. By using synthesizers that produce sounds similar to speech, it also uses filters that imitate sound variations from advanced movements such as mouth and tongue position as well as the length of the throat among a variety of other things.

Even as this technology enables a computer to be able to recognize and digitize speech along with words, analyze the words and make speech from the text, the computer still will not understand what you are saying. To get a computer to understand how humans speak, it involves an area of artificial intelligence called natural language processing.

It is true that speech and voice recognition technology came a long since its inception, it hasn’t achieved a hundred percent reliability. Even with the best software on the market, it has not been able to compensate for little things like typing accuracy and working through mistakes.

While it is the truth that speech and voice recognition technology has come a very long way since the beginning, it still has not reached one hundred percent effectiveness. While the best software on the market may have a good platform, these tools still do not compensate for typing mistakes.

Songs To Put On To Put You In The Zone

July 17, 2010 | Leave a Comment

When it comes to doing certain types of work on your computer, sometimes you may feel the need to listen to some music. Sites like Pandora have become incredibly popular in recent years, as they play a continuous list of songs for as long as you want.

But what if you just want a quick album to listen to as you get an hour’s worth of work done. These are some of my favorite albums to listen to while I work.

When it comes to instrumental music, it is harder to find better albums to listen to than those of the band Ratatat. LP3, in particular, is a great listen from start to finish.

The newest album from DeadMau5 (pronounced “Dead Mouse” ) is another one I very much enjoy listening to. It is upbeat electronic and gets me going.

LCD Soundsystem has lyrics in his music, but they are sparse enough that it is easy to get lost in your work listening to any of his albums.

At the end of the day or if I am working late at night, I enjoy listening to any Broken Social Scene record. It tends to be more relaxed instrumental music, and a great “cool down” for the day.

If you have never listened to the band Delorean, then you should start making up for lost time. Their newest album, “Subiza” is an excellent album to work to, with electronic beats and uplifting melodies.

Another great album that I have been listening to while I work is Welcome To Mali by Amadou and Miriam. Based out of Africa, Amadou and Miriam churn out African influenced music and while there are lyrics involved, they are mostly in Swahili, so you can not even tell what they are saying, but it is very enjoyable to work to.

These parties are typically religious in nature; however, they are very fun and will often go well into the night. Thankfully, Spain is also full of lovely sidewalk cafs, which are the perfect place to relax and people watch, while recovering from a long day of sightseeing - or a long night.

Of course, there is much more to Europe than the vibrant country of Spain. France is another hot destination, where visitors can take D-Day tours through Normandy, visit the castles of Loire, go wine tasting in Burgundy or spend their entire vacation attempting to see and do all that Paris has to offer. And then, of course, there is London, which is a perfectly decadent destination for gay vacations.

While in London, travelers will discover that there is really no better city for easily and conveniently taking in a wide variety of sights in a relatively short time. Visitors should definitely see Big Ben, cruise down the Thames, take a ride on the London Eye and tour St. Paul’s Cathedral, as well as - of course - stopping by Buckingham Palace. After a day of touring this beautiful city, travelers might want to take in a show or might be happy to hear that the best LGBT clubs in the UK can be found in London, such as The Shadow Lounge, Fire, Ruby Tuesdays, Heaven and more.

If you dream of sun-soaked beaches, ancient ruins and delicious local dishes, the Mediterranean is an ideal location for gay travel or for taking part in organized gay tours. Enjoying the natural beauty of Crete or spending an afternoon haggling in the markets of Athens is a great way to spend time between visits to historic sites. If shopping that is a bit more glamorous is more your style, Athens is also home to plenty of upscale shops and boutiques.

There is also Egypt, which is a land of brilliant blue skies, rolling dunes and rich, vibrant history. Egypt is a truly unique gay travel destination, which promises unending adventures and life-changing experiences. Standing before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx on the Giza Plateau, you are sure to catch your breath as you consider these icons that date from civilization’s earliest days.

The world is absolutely overflowing with wonderful destinations for gay vacations. Whether you prefer exploring exotic locations on gay tours or solo travel to popular spots, you will undoubtedly make lifelong memories and many new friends as you explore the world.

A Southern Guy’s Ideas Of Things To Do When Passing Through Nashville

July 16, 2010 | Leave a Comment

If you find yourself in the Southern United States and are looking for a great city to stop in, you should strongly consider Nashville. My home away from home, Nashville has a special place in my heart and everyone I know who has visited agrees it is an amazing city.

The list of reasons to visit Nashville is extensive, but the following are some of the best reasons to make a trip to Music City.

Do you like to eat breakfast? Chances are, you do and if you do, then there is no better breakfast to be had in the United States of America than at Loveless Motel in Nashville. It is a little bit of a trek from the main part of the city, about a 25 minute drive outside of the city, but the drive is scenic and the food is that good. The place is well known for their biscuits and fried chicken and is the best brunch I’ve ever had.

The buttermilk biscuits alone are worth the drive. They have a smoker and smoke all their meats daily. The pulled pork is phenomenal.

If pancakes are your thing, then Pancake Pantry is another great breakfast option. The sweet potato pancakes are incredible, as is everything else on the menu. The place is well known for long waits, so bring a newspaper to help the time pass. It is worth the wait.

There are many activities to check out in downtown Nashville. Located right on the Cumberland River, downtown Nashville is notorious for its live country music. Some of the best bars to go downtown include Lonnie’s Western Room on Printers Alley, Wolfie’s, and the Hard Rock Caf.

The Grand Ole Opry is a Nashville staple and if you want to see live country music, there is no better venue for it. Every legendary singer has played here, from Johnny Cash to Hank Williams, and if there’s a show while you’re in town, it is worth checking out.

If you are looking to walk around a little bit, look no further than Vanderbilt University. Located in the heart of the city Vanderbilt is a beautiful campus and there are few better places to be on a beautiful day.
