The Tastiest Soft Drinks You Have Never Sampled

March 16, 2010 | Leave a Comment

I don’t mind admitting that I drink more soda than is good for me. Cola is the big one for me and yes, I’m addicted to it.

Although cola is my favorite I don’t stop there and will try any flavored beverage that I can get my hands on. I get such a buzz from finding a little known drink, trying it, and finding that it’s delicious.

Sugar is sugar, its not fructose, sucrose or any other of the ridiculous names they give it. They then try and pass these processed substances off as natural ingredients. I buy soda that says sugar.

I’m going to let you in on some of my favorite soda. These are lesser known brands which are every bit as delicious as the super brands but just don’t have the recognition.

One of our most popular beverages in the US is root beer, and Virgil’s make the tastiest root beer that I have ever tasted. Many other people think this also, judging by the amount of awards this drink has won.

Another gem that Virgil’s produces is the simply delicious black cherry vanilla cream soda. Trust me; this drink tastes every bit as good as it sounds.

Boylan’s make, in my opinion, one of the best colas on the market. Their sugar cane cola is exactly what it says on the tin. The sugar cane is blended with the other natural ingredients to create a traditional cola which hits your taste buds in an explosion of flavor.

Last but certainly not least are the delicious green tea infused drinks that Steaz make. The fruit flavors combine with the green tea to create a soda unlike anything you will have ever tasted before. There are so many varieties available that you are bound to find one that you like. Orange, lemon & lime, root beer and raspberry are just some of the flavors you should try.

An Approach To Have Healthier Chocolate

Ask anyone what their favorite guilty pleasure is, and the overwhelming response will be chocolate. We just can’t get enough of the stuff; milk, white, fruity, we love all of it. All we need now is a healthy chocolate do we can enjoy it without the guilt.

Well you probably didn’t know this but there is, and it still contains the good stuff such as the minerals and antioxidants. It doesn’t however, have all the bad stuff in it.

This is dark chocolate, which is basically chocolate without all the fattening ingredients such as milk solids and cocoa butter and a bucket load of sugar! There is a low fat, bitter chocolate which is even better for you, but there’s one thing that you should know.

Our bodies do not recognize chocolate as food, weird huh? Eat a bar of chocolate on its own and your body will pick up on the sugar etc and just store it, and the minerals and vitamins won’t be absorbed.

So for your body to properly absorb the healthier properties you have to eat with something else. This is where dark chocolate with fruit and nuts added is so good. You get the minerals, vitamins and antioxidants as well as the goodness from the fruit and the nuts.

As dark chocolate contains a lot of iron, eating it with foods high in Vitamin C ensures that all the nutrients are absorbed and you get all the benefits. You have the best of both world here; you get all the iron, vitamins etc and it tastes absolutely gorgeous as well.

When I worked as a chocolatier I regularly consumed dark chocolate with all manner of fruits; in particular berries and nuts. A blood test showed that my levels of vitamins and minerals were perfect and I didn’t gain any weight.

Next time you need your chocolate fix, ignore the fattening and unhealthy milk chocolate and reach for the dark chocolate with the fruit and nuts. No guilt but every bit as delicious.

One last thing, just because you know it’s healthier doesn’t mean you can pig out, be sensible!

Besides food, the writer also regularly shares knowledge regarding metal roofing materials and metal roof manufacturers.

The Sensibility Of Cleaning Up Your Kitchen As You Make Meals

March 5, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Cooking is one of our favorite hobbies, we love going into the kitchen and creating tasty meals and treats fro our loved ones. What we don’t love, however, is the trail of destruction that we leave behind. How come there’s so much mess?

This has bugged us for generations, well, since the days of masters and servants ceased to exist. At one time, all our ancestors had to do was sit at the table, have their meals brought to them and then retire. The staff downstairs had to worry about all the tidying up.

The lesser classes didn’t suffer from this problem either as they could afford neither servants nor expensive meals.

The thing is, with today’s so called time saving gadgets, there seems to be more mess than ever. As well as utensils we have used, there are also a stack of appliances such as blenders that need to be cleaned out.

Of course, you may well be very wealthy and not have a clue what I’m actually talking about, but I’m guessing not. Ok, you may have a cleaning lady a couple of times a week, but a bombsite kitchen isn’t really something you want to leave for her.

So we still search for that magic something that will enable us to turn out lavish gastronomic creations without any of the mess. As, sadly, it simply doesn’t exist, here’s something you can try instead.

Clean as you go is now my kitchen motto. Keep a bowl of hot, soapy water and wash each piece as soon as you’ve used it. Then when you’ve finished, there will only be the last couple of things that you’ve used, so much better than a teetering pile of dirty dishes.

In the long run, leaving everything to the end is making more work for yourself. This is particularly difficult if you have guests for dinner, you know what a state your kitchen is in but can’t abandon your guests to go and clean up. Cleaning as you go means you can enjoy your evening as you know your kitchen is okay.

Original Hot Beverages

In the dark days of winter, we pile on layers of extra clothes and turn up the fire in an attempt to banish the cold. We are warm on the outside, but why should our insides do without? They deserve to be warmed up too!

The perfect thing to remedy this is a hot drink, made up of your favourite ingredients; they are delicious, warm and also satisfying. Here are a few may like to try that are both tasty and warming.

Two obvious ones are cream or marshmallows; these basically act as sweeteners and don’t add much to the taste.

Peppermint, on the other hand, really gives a lovely, minty flavor to the chocolate. This can be doing a few drops of essence, or even a candy cane. If you are a fan of minted chocolate you will love this.

An indulgent way to make hot chocolate is to pop some chocolate into a cup and melt it by pouring on boiling milk. This is rich, delicious hot chocolate, not the substitute which comes courtesy of instant powder or granules.

These are all great drinks, but what if you fancy something more fruity than chocolaty? Hot fruity drinks are very tasty and have a bit of sharpness to them thanks to the fruit.

Hot Cider could just be the drink that you’re looking for. Add some spices to give it a kick, or sweeten it up by adding something like Caramel.

A very sweet drink that gives the impression of being a dessert is easily created by adding Nutella to your coffee. Coffee with Hazelnuts is a well known beverage, and the inclusion of chocolate into the mix is surprisingly good.

Consider Consuming Pizza Slices With These Toppings

February 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment

The city of New York is my home, and it’s a fabulous place. It’s been said to offer the best pizzas in the world, and it’s certainly true that when you’re in town you don’t have to look very far to find a pizzeria. It seems as if every block is laced with great places to eat this delicious food.

As a result, I’ve had the privilege of enjoying a very wide variety of slices and styles. During my time spent eating this delicious treat, I’ve come across some pretty interesting types and I’d like to share a few of them with you today.

If you appreciate creative cookery, I’m sure you’d like to try these suggestions. Made at home or ordered from a restaurant, I’m sure you’ll agree they’re a real treat.

If you’ve never tried a mac and cheese slice, I would suggest that you definitely give it a shot if you can. This seems unconventional at first, and it is, but it’s absolutely delicious. If the macaroni is breaded on top, the slice should be even more enjoyable with its crispy, rich composition.

Another very popular slice at an one of the city’s top pizzerias is a spinach artichoke variety. This is like your typical spinach style slice, but it has artichokes and a creamy blend of cheese throughout. Many call it the best pizza slide they’ve ever had in their lives.

If, like me, you’re fond of buffalo chicken, you’ll just love it on a hot pizza crust. When you bite into a buffalo chicken slice you’ll think you’re in heaven with all of the strong flavors blending so well together.

You can increase the flavor of your meal by adding blue cheese to the pizza or having a blue cheese dip on the side. Just the crust and dip are almost a meal in themselves and I always find myself wanting just a little bit more, even after I’m done eating the slice.

I hope you are inspired to try at least one of these unconventional pizza recipes. I love all three and hope you’ll be just as impressed as I am.

In addition to pizza, this writer also frequently pens articles on the rolling utility carts and folding utility cart.

My Critique On A Fine Coffee Company

January 30, 2010 | Leave a Comment

During a recent encounter with an old friend who was visiting from California, the subject of coffee came up. We’re both avid drinkers and enjoy discussing some of our favorites.

One of the places I chose to mention was a new establishment near my apartment that genuinely served up the best cup of coffee I’ve ever tasted. He had never tried this place, but insisted that the best cup of coffee I’ll ever have was at a place near his house in California. He even promised to mail me some beans.

These were so good in fact that he would have them delivered to his home. He couldn’t imagine drinking anything else at this point and he even craved it while he was away.

As a big fan of the drink myself, I decided that I was going that to try this coffee if there was any way that I could. This wouldn’t be too difficult, as he quickly offered to mail me some once he got home.

Just a week later, I was lucky enough to receive this package. I excitedly opened it up to see a bag off coffee beans from Blue Bottle coffee, and they smelled absolutely great.

I don’t have a coffee maker at home, but this wasn’t a problem. Being the thoughtful friend that he is, he decided to crush the beans in advance for me.

Was it as good as he said it was? After reading many online reviews, I came to learn that he’s not the only person who absolutely loves this brand, so I was really excited.

While I’m not sure that it’s the best I’ve ever had, I’d place it in my top three. My number one is still the local establishment near my apartment, but anyone with a lack of good coffee around should definitely look into some Blue Bottle coffee.
