Use Newspapers To Grab New Roomy’s Soon

September 6, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Because of how the economy has been lately, more and more people are taking in roommates to save money. If you are among those who have decided that you will need to take in a roommate in order to help covering your housing costs, then you would really want to be sure that you do all that you can to find yourself the right roommate for you. You see, it is very important that you know everything you can about a possible roommate, because this person will be living in your house surrounded by all your belongings. It is important that the person you choose to move in as a roommate is someone you feel you can truly trust.

In addition to asking them questions, you can also conduct a background check on this individual to find out about their past. To avoid the messiness of attempting to evict a tenant if you find they are an undesirable individual, wait to allow them to move in until you receive the results of the background check. Waiting for the results of the background investigation is a good way to make sure you are protected, and let them know your decision on whether to let them move in only after you have thoroughly reviewed all of the information you received.

Investigations can be simple to conduct based on the fact that you don’t need to have much information on the person before the check is conducted, and you can also conduct some checks, like court records history checks, online. A name and birth date are the only mandatory bits of information to conduct a search. These checks are extremely helpful into giving you insight into any previous civil lawsuits they may have been involved in and any past criminal history. To ensure that they will be a responsible and reliable tenant in terms of paying their portion of rent and bills every month, you can also run a credit check on the individual.

Protect yourself from potentially living with a criminal by conducting a thorough, detailed search; since sharing a living space is very important, you have a right to the best roommate possible.

Even though it is fun in meeting someone new, safety is always a must when letting someone you don’t know become a roommate, always trust your gut when choosing your next roommate and good luck.

Emergency Survival Food - Is Mountain House Food Best?

September 5, 2010 | Leave a Comment

When thinking of emergency survival food or starting to stockpile foods, here are a few things to help you get started.

*Crucial! Is the kind of emergency food I am storing for survival the kind I would want to eat now?

*Do I want only the BARE necessities in groceries…?

*… or do I want to dine like a king while eating my emergency survival food?

Make sure you are spending your precious dollars on items you are going to NEED and that you will want to eat.

There is no doubt in my mind that some of the best ways to get ready for a food shortage is to purchase some ready made food reserves packs such as the Mountain House food packs, which you can buy in various places online.

One of the biggest advantages of these food reserves is that they have a LONG shelf life so no fear of outdated foods.

*Another question… How easy will it be to PREPARE the emergency survival food you are stocking up?

Will you be able to have food to eat even if there is no way to build a fire?

*And then also… What kind of survival food can you afford to buy right now?

Many folks are living on a shoestring budget so simply buying several extra cans of food EVERY time they shop is a way to stockpile food.

Watch for sales and stock up on those items. It is amazing how quickly it adds up!

Just make sure you rotate your canned goods. It will not be good to enter a food shortage crisis with only outdated emergency survival food on the shelves either.

In Conclusion, determine whether you only need an emergency 72 hour plan, a 6 month supply of emergency food storage, a year’s worth of food or whether you want to have an ongoing and long term plan.

With the ever pressing danger of a coming food shortage in America, you WILL want to have SOME sort of preparedness plan in motion….

We highly recommend AT LEAST a 30 day supply of food stocked up and preferably a year’s worth with time.

Selecting A Private Preschool

September 1, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Picking out the right preschool for your child is not an easy task. Learning the school’s objectives is most vital to assess if they can meet your child’s essential demands. Doing your own research is crucial in ascertaining if this can be achieved by sending your child to a private preschool.

Private preschools are mostly available for parents. The school district has preschool programs that train your child as he is prepped up for Kindergarten. Even when your child is a specially challenging child, he will benefit from many services available to prepare him for higher learning.

District funded preschool programs may be offered in your town but only at a minimal. But, if you get a slot, this is a fantastic opportunity for your child to be exposed to a less formal school training that will develop him into an obedient and knowledgeable child before he steps into Kindergarten.

Yet it still trouble-free if you can point out a private preschool program among an array of choices. Areas for consideration are the school’s curriculum, school time, and price.

You can also choose among religion-based or non-sectarian private preschool programs in churches and synagogues. You should prefer a church’s preschool program if your family is a member of that church. They are less expensive than their counterparts.

Independent preschool programs will surely help your child adapt to certain skills. It is most imperative that you and your child are confident in everything that the school offers from education, safety, teaching qualities, and certification. Educational and monetary requisites must also be considered.

Your child will develop a love for study in the coming years if he had developed the basics in education as young as possible in his preschool years.

Independent preschool programs will surely help your child adapt to certain skills. Remember that it is crucial for you and your child to be both comfortable with the overall system of the private preschool. It should also pass your family’s educational and financial requirements.

A private preschool program will provide the educational, emotional, and physical foundation vital to his move towards Kindergarten and eventually lead him to develop a love for learning.

Learn How To Hide Your Guns And Valuables

August 28, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Everyone needs to know how to hide your guns and valuables with all the ways they are trying to take them from us.

Having a gun is critical to survival, which any survivalist will know that already.

I live in the Northwest and it is not uncommon to see a gun hanging over the seat in a pickup truck.

I would hate to try to take a gun away from some of the characters I run into in town!

Most of these guys will shoot if you try to take their guns from them.

You just do NOT mess with a mountain man’s rifle.

So what about all the families that live in the city?

If you live in the city and want to be able to protect your family, then learning how to hide your guns is a must.

If you fear the direction our country is headed and recognize the danger signs we are seeing already, then you KNOW ALREADY that NO ONE will want to be without some form of protection.

With prices rising on guns and with it being harder and harder to purchase them, there have been more thefts and house break-ins.

Silver and gold as well, as they are valuables folks are looking for.

The looting and stealing will only get worse as the economy gets worse.

Terrorist attacks, civil unrest, natural disasters, and crisis situations almost always lead to or involve looting as well.

All of this eventually leads to gun control and in some places it is happening already.

In some areas it is not uncommon to see a cop walk up to someone and demand they hand their gun over.

So WHERE can we hide our guns?

According to Sam Adams who wrote a book on ‘How to Hide Your Guns’, the back yard is one of the WORST places to hide your guns or valuables.

If you do a google search on Sam Adams book on How to Hide Your Guns you will be able to find it and it will tell you much more than I can on the whole subject.

In conclusion the most important thing is that you don’t lose your survival weapon.

We may never have any intentions to shoot anyone but we may need it to hunt for food one day.

Hand Truck Safety 101

August 21, 2010 | Leave a Comment

Hand trucks are versatile trolley carts with an L-shape design that make moving heavy boxes much less daunting. Hand trucks are simple machines using leverage to exert force on a heavy object. There are handles to grip at the top and wheels at the bottom, with an extended base to place the object meant to be transferred. When the hand truck is in motion, the base is lifted off ground and when it is still the base is flat on the ground.

The hardest part of using a hand truck is getting the load on right. Even if you use a hand truck with a beveled nose care must still be taken to load the truck properly as to ensure that you don’t hurt your back. Gently slip the nose under the load by pushing the handles forward and as easily as you can transfer the weight onto the wheels.

For personal use or for objects that need to be treated more delicately, a more expensive and sturdier hand truck would be best. In some commercial situations, hand trucks are made with fewer side rails and less support because the objects being moved need to be moved quickly. These light weight hand trucks are ideal for commercial use but for someone moving out of their home, they don’t provide the necessary support. When moving objects into and out of houses, a mover may encounter sets of stairs.

Some hand trucks have special wheels called “stairclimber wheels” that are especially made for navigating objects up and down stairs. Instead of two wheels, the hand truck has two sets of wheels, allowing the base to be more stable. The wheels can be adjusted at different degrees, depending on the steepness of the climb. Though they are great for climbing up and down stairs, the stairclimber wheels pose a problem with flexibility. The four wheels on the base are fixed, which makes turning the hand truck around quite difficult.

For other lumps and bumps along the moving path, simple ramps placed strategically make navigation a lot less challenging. It is not a good idea to mow over a curb or to try lifting the hand truck up it. When the hand truck is pushed up a curb, the angle of the tilt becomes steeper and the person doing the pushing takes on the full weight of the load. Going off the curb the tilt is pushed too far forward and the object may slide right off the base onto the ground. Either way the mover could lose the load and perhaps even get injured.

Though they are simple machines, hand trucks are available with more complicated features, such as hydraulic lifts and winches. When purchasing a hand truck, the carrying capacity is the most important feature. Loading a hand truck beyond its carrying capacity is just as dangerous as trying to hoist a cart over curbs without a ramp. It is better to be safe than sorry.

This form of energy is so important that it affects everything here on earth. Our plants for instance use this form of energy to create their own food through a process called photosynthesis. They have the ability to trap the chemical or radiant energy of the sun to produce water and carbon (iv) oxide which is the end product of the reaction undergone by the plants and which is also what we call, again, photosynthesis.

This form of power has been used since ancient time by human with a wide range of ever evolving technologies. The heat emanated or generated by solar power and with some secondary power resources such as wind and wave power, electricity made with water called hydroelectricity and biomass really account for most of the available renewable energy here on earth. It is only a small fraction of this source of power that is being utilized.

Some of the applications to which this form of energy can be used for include: space heating and cooling through the use of solar architecture, suitable or portable water via the process of distillation and disinfection, day lighting, solar hot water, solar cooking and also a high temperature process of heat for industrial use. To actually utilize this form of energy effectively, solar panel are built to bring this process into action.

Solar power is on the rise of becoming more and more popular than it has ever been in the past years.

Yes we can actually generate some forms of energy and harness them into useful purposes. So, the energy generated from the sun has some of advantages and disadvantages which are as follows:

The advantages of this form of energy are that it is free to produce and that it does not require fuel and does not produce waste in the form of pollution. Also, where the sun can be collected continuously, it can be used to generate electricity from the heat that is produced from the sun. It also finds its use in solar power garden light and battery chargers or for helping in paying home energy bills.

One of the disadvantages of this form of energy is that it does not work at night. It is very expensive to actually built solar panels or stations but it is coming down due to improvement on solar technology. Also, it can be unreliable unless you are located in a sunny climate. But notwithstanding, solar energy has gone so far to actually bring an end to light failure that most countries normally invest in this form of energy.

Best Five Camp Experiences For Youth: Different Than When We Were Children?

July 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment

With summer upon us, many children in the US are now getting their first exposure to summer camps. While some children may look upon this with worry about being homesick and being unable to make new friends, summer camp delivers unforgettable positive memories for all Americans.

Thinking back on memories of our own, we chose to ask 30 kids from elementary schools in the New York and New Jersey area what their favorite summer camp activities are. We then contrasted these results to a very unscientific poll done in our office of a dozen staff, and were amazed to find out that the results were nearly identical! This was a great surprise for us. Although we did not have interactive media and mobile phones when we went to summer camp, the same activities are still just as enjoyable today as they were back in the ’80s.

#1: Archery. Despite the fact that young children possessing armed bows and arrows may be the source of plenty of nightmares for parents, kids still enjoy it to no end. There’s just something so gratifying about unleashing a sharp bolt of aluminum 100 feet into a hay target. Thankfully, archery accidents are still nonexistent at summer camps, as a result of the safety training on-site adult supervisors have had.

#2: Canoeing. Summer is like an inferno of heat. The preferred place to be is on the lake. Canoeing not only provides strenuous physical exercise for kids, but also gives them a chance to work in synch. It’s a wonderful team-building exercise.

#3: Crafts. Kids get such a feeling of achievement when they craft something on their own. Unfortunately, there is no way any summer camp is going to let a kid born after the death of grunge music to work witj power tools. But there are plenty of solutions for that. How many lanyards will campers make? Marshmallow art masterpieces? These still top kids’ lists of things to do at summer camp because then they get to bring something home for mom and dad.

#4: Camp “Olympics” where each cabin becomes one cohesive team in a fight to the death against the rest of the camp. These relay races, canoeing, and scavenger hunts can foster lasting memories for kids, and not just because little Solomon gets heatstroke and tosses his cookies on David, the most popular male counselor. It’s all about teamwork.

#5: Horseback riding. You know the interesting thing about this one making the champion’s spot? Only 3 of us out of our 12-person office ever actually got a chance to even feed a horse, let alone ride one. Still we, like the kids, mark this as our favorite camp memory.
