A Guide On Making Custom Glass Boxes

The next two pieces you cut need to be measured out to be the same width of the bottom piece. However, you’ll need to calculate for the thickness of the glass so subtract whatever that number equals. Glass is usually a inch thick, but this can vary. It will also need to be the same height as the other two pieces. The last two pieces that need to be cut are for the top of the box.
Once all the glass is cut you’ll need to smooth down the edges. When you cut the glass, it will come out pretty rough so a proper glass grinder is a must have. Once they’re smooth and the glass looks spiffy it’s time to add the glue. Make sure you find proper glue from a specialty store that’s meant for glass.
Now is when the final touches come in and you’ll need to keep things real clean. The glue should be lightly pressed against the sides of the glass and then attached to the other pieces. Make sure to clean up any excess glue with a damp q-tip or it will harden on the glass. Once all the pieces are dry and it feels secure, then it’s time to add the top two pieces onto the box.
You can either use colored glass to make these boxes or add designs onto your box once it’s all dry. This is a simple and fun project that you’ll truly enjoy. The boxes make a great gift, once you get good!
